Baby wearing

LO fell asleep in the car after yoga so I am currently catching up on the bump in my car.

What do you normally do while wearing LO?

He falls asleep immediately while I vacuum the house and I always prep dinner. I find it hard to so laundry because I have a top load and I can't bend far enough while wearing him to get the wet clothes out.

What can you accomplish while wearing LO? Do you do errands?

  • Shopping while baby wearing is awesome. Vacuuming, cooking, cleaning, walking. Basically anything but driving.

You can still baby wear and do stuff low on the ground, just get good at squats ;)

  • I agree with shopping. It is 1,000 times easier and the majority if the time LO passes right out. It's also really good for when she is fighting naps. I put her in and go for a walk and she's out. Pretty much whenever we are out and about I wear her or SO does sometimes too.
  • I always shop wearing DD. It's so much easier, I have more room in cart and she falls asleep. I'm trying to stop nursing to sleep so I've been wearing her at home for her naps. Once she's asleep I sit down and rock in the recliner.
  • When he is willing to be in his wrap i can accomplish anything. When he refuses his wrap i can do nothing but play with him. But i cant complain about that.

  • I do dishes, laundry, general picking up/cleaning, and vacuum. I haven't shopped with her in it because it would be kind of a hassle to take her out of the car seat and put her into the baby bjorn and then back again, especially if she's fallen asleep.

  • Lol I have a top loading washing machine, too...I've done some crazy contortionist back bends rotating the laundry with LO in my wrap. I wear him all the time!!
Feeling like a big bloated hormonal whale of a tale. It's awesome.

Haha this! Made me really feel pregnant again. That's how I had to do laundry the last couple months

  • I put LO on in the morning and take her off at night. So we do everything together.

  • @roostermemphis do you really, literally? I love that idea... I don't feel I do enough during the day to justify it though... More so though I feel like I need someone to double check my carries cause they don't feel comfortable for long periods of time sometimes. I really liked the back carry and the pick you posted with the wrap you made but I'm nervous to try it with my ring sling. How'd you get comfortable with the back carry?

And just FWIW I look forward to your comments when it comes to the baby wearing topics

Yes, i do most days. I change up the holds a bunch of times when I change or feed her. I just never use a stroller.
I hate that thing. This is just what works for us. Ring slings aren't made for back carries. Check out www.wrapyourbaby.com (sorry not clicky). She is amazing and I've learned everything from her.

  • Yes all of the me mentioned above things, and I have raked the leaves, mowed the lawn, ( lo had a light blanket draped over the top of the k'tan so nothing could fly in), if it was for the wrap I wouldn't be able to do anything
  • I love to babywear, but having twins makes it more difficult - I've def worn one at a time, but the portability of baby wearing isn't there bc you still have another one to tote around. And if you're toting one, you might as well tote two.

I think it'll come in handy when they're older and I can shop/run errands w one in the cart and wearing the other. Right now, the stroller really is the most convenient.

  • @carrotcake06 My friend has twins and wears both everyday. She does one in the front and one In the back. It's easier when they're
young since they are so light in weight.

It's definitely not for everybody. But check out the tutorials on wrapyourbaby.com to see how they do twins. :).

@roostermemphis Thanks! I'll def check it out. Wearing both at once is a bit intimidating, I'll admit, but I think it'd be a bit like tandem BFing: kinda scary to first think about, then you feel like a badass when you first get the hang of it, and second nature once you're good at it ;)

Thanks for the link. That's good to know about the ring sling since I've seen people do it and tutorials, I hope it's not too dangerous if people are recommending it, but ill stick the the holds I'm comfortable with in it. Yea I wasn't too keen on strollers either, at least with the carseat, I don't use ours out and about often I pretty much wear DS 99% of the time when we are out and about, I make sure I always have at least one carrier in the car. I have a ring sling and k'tan. What other carrier would you recommend?

@ashesha13 that may be a matter of opinion then. So I guess if it's being safely done, go ahead. But that's just from what I've read and from using my RS I don't know if it would be safe.

Edit: I would just get a good woven wrap. I love it.

@RoosterMemphis I LOVE that on the list of things you can do while baby wearing she lists "pet your cat" and "brush your teeth". Yup, pretty much sums it up. Thanks for the link! :)
