Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Child Care

Sitting here balling my eyes out, thinking about leaving my baby with someone else. I have to work I have no choice in the matter.

I met with a very nice lady, a lot of my friends use her., she organized and clean... why am I having such a hard time! I don't think I can just leave him there maybe before I go back to work which is in 2 weeks.. I should take him one day before I go..so I get used to it? ANY other moms going thru this? Not only am I going thru PPD and mastitis sooo makes this worse.. now I have to think about leaving my pride and joy with someone. Ugh :*( advice? Help? What are you other moms doing. My baby's about to be 2 months, he is so sweet.

Re: Child Care

  • Im stressing about leaving her with my mother! Not that I worry about the care she will get, I know she will be in great hands. I worry mostly for myself and how I will deal with the selaration. Even though I work 10 minutes away it feels like an eternity. I plan on coming home on my lunch hour to breastfeed her.

  • I think every mother who has daycare goes through this. It's hard, but you've gotta do what you gotta do. Attempt to do random drop ins, and I've heard the trial run is a very popular choice.

  • It is hard, but it's necessary. Think of it as adding another adult to your lo's life that he will be able to trust and be secure with. The more people he can really know and trust, the better for him! Also, just think how happy he will be to see you when you pick him up each day :) AND, quality time is more important than quantity. You're doing a great thing for him by going to work to provide for him. He'll still be loved and cared for. And nobody will be able to replace his mommy in his heart.

  • I am going back to work the Monday after Thanksgiving, I am stressed as well. The only thing that I can tell you is what I tell myself, you have to trust your gut. You chose this lady because she is well organized and a good caregiver. Take deep breaths, it will get easier as the days go on.

  • Try a few partial days before you go to work.  Then try one whole day with a drop in or two.  It's hard, but when you walk through the door and see that smiling / shining little face.... it's wonderful! Makes my day all better.

I'll be going back to work soon and I'm feeling pretty good about it. If you'll be using a DC definitely do a trial run and drop in's. It's hard for any mother that goes back to work but it has to be done (for some).
