Endomitriosis

After many months of searching for the answer to my painful periods and pains, I have just been "diagnosed" with endomitriosis. I'm not sure which board to turn to since i'm not ttc. My doctor is pushing for me to have a lap done within the next month to subside my pain and sickness. Anyone here have this? I'm not sure which way to turn so I will not lose my fertility when we would like to have another child. I'm researching a lot however I feel more comfortable hearing from those in similar situations as i am.

Thanks.

Re: Endomitriosis

  • My sister has endometriosis and has been on the pill since she was 17, she's never had kids or wanted any so it's not a big deal. Talk with your doctor about the options, I had surgery to remove a cyst about 4 years ago and have since had 2 children, laparoscopic surgery is easy to recover from and in theory you shouldn't have any issues when ttc.

  • I have endometriosis. When we wanted to ttc our first I had a lap done and they checked to be sure my tubes are clear. I got pg about 3 months later. A lap or birth control are the only ways that I know of to stop the pain and scarring that occurs. If you are in a lot of pain I would get the lap and then go on birth control (unless you want to get pg soon).

  • I also have Endometriosis. Not sure of the right board for you but there is TONS of info on it nowadays as it appears to be more and more common. When I first heard about it there was very little on the internet so I remember buying many books on it. I had a lap done way back in 98. It was a pretty quick recovery. I think some excess gas was the hardest part. It allowed the gyno to see that I did have endo. I wouldnt be so worried about the lap. You can look at it as an indicator of how minor/severe it is to help you better plan your future.

On a positive note, I just had my ist child in 2011 and am TTC now. I know that was a big gap in time from my lap but it was bc I planned it that way, not bc I had trouble conceiving.  Good luck?

I have pretty much been on birth control since my late teens. I have to say when I have gone off the pill my cramps have definitely been stronger, which confirmed for me that the pill helps.
