Overnight diaper

Hello just wondering what other moms do for overnight diapers. My girls are 3 months and a little over 12 pounds and are sleeping longer now, from about 7-530 am, eat and then back to sleep until 7. By 530 of course their diapers are fully loaded with pee and look like they could almost fall right off. We use costco/Kirkland brand which I love. The problem is by this time in the morning their sleep is much lighter and too much movement wakes them up, however I don't want to leave them sitting in a full diaper. I tried huggies overnight last night, they are a little too big but they did keep them dry. The only thing is one of my daughters woke up with a weird white film and a rash so of course I'm thinking she must be sensitive to whatever chemicals are on these diapers. What brand do you use? Or do you just risk them waking up or leave them in a regular daytime diaper?

Re: Overnight diaper

  • I change my little guy around 1-2 am and use the pampers swaddlers at night. They seem to absorb best for us. So at least if he pees a lot I'm not as worried about him getting a rash. I have read a bit that Huggies can cause rashes so have never used them or bought any of them.

I never heard about them causing rashes, I am definitely not using them anymore. I do like the pampers swaddlers, we only switched because the Kirkland are cheaper and work just as well at least for daytime. I'm going to see if the pampers overnight are any better.

  • With my DD, I used to put her in a diaper one size up from what she wore during the day and that did the trick for us. I never tried a specific overnight diaper.

  • They need to be changed if they are sleeping that long no matter what diaper. Just keep the lights dim and change them as quickly and quietly as possible.

Question then what do you do when they sttn? Are you waking them up just to change?

  • We use Pampers Swaddlers. When we change her diaper for the last time before she goes to bed we slather her in Balmex (everywhere the diaper is going to touch) to make a barrier between the wetness and her skin. We also size up for her nighttime diapers. It works wonders and we haven't seen a rash so far.

  • I'm also a diehard Pampers swaddlers fan.  I've tried the generic Walmart, Target, LUVS, Huggies.  Swaddlers are the only diapers that haven't leaked & they've been blow-out proof.  You can usually find coupons for them on coupons.com

  • DS is almost 9 weeks and I still wake him up to feed him at night. I change his diaper before he eats. If he's not hungry, I change him anyway. I don't want to risk the diaper bursting and him getting hold of the beads or something.

  • I used Pampers overnights with DS and really liked them. I also used them for long car rides because I was afraid we wouldn't get to a good place to change him often enough.

  • Pampers swaddlers but like PP's stated the babies need to be changed if they are sleeping that long.

  • I strongly disagree. Are you going to be waking up when your LO is one to change their diaper? Not likely. We only change at night for poop unless it is bugging him.

I would find a diaper that keeps them drier if it's concerning you and put a barrier against their skin like coconut oil or buttpaste to prevent diaper rash.
Thanks, I was changing them every feeding up until a week or so ago but I have read about skipping unless it's poop so I'd love to save myself some sleep! I went back to pampers swaddlers and put a lot of butt paste on before bed & baby a's rash cleared right up.

We do Swaddlers during the day and Pamper's Baby Dry at night. They fit my LO like the Swaddlers, but last a lot longer. (Packaging claims up to 12 hours.) He pees A LOT. And sleeps anywhere from 9-11 hours. He's 11 weeks..

  • She just stays in regular diapers. She's been sleeping 8:30-6:30. She has a full diaper, but it's not leaking.
