Stupid Q

So I am pretty sure I have the flu :(  I've felt awful for the past 5 days and I don't think I am getting better.  I almost always never go to the doctor when I am sick, but I am pretty sure I need to go now, especially with having a LO at home.

So my question is..what kind of doctor to I see?? The only doctor I've seen in years is my OB so I honestly have no freakin clue!

Re: Stupid Q

  • Your primary care physician.  If you don't have one you'll need to find an urgent care place.  If you've been sick that long, they won't give you a particular flu med like Tamiflu but you might have something else going on like a respiratory infection.  You are talking about the actual flu and not a stomach bug, right?

  • @elmoali..I definitely do not have a primary care physician.  I am talking about "the flu".  I don't have a stomach bug.  Can an urgent care place diagnose things like a respiratory infection?  I am super cluless and HATE doctors!!

sorry for any doctors on the board...

Just checking because lot of people call stomach bugs the flu as well so I wanted to make sure we were on the same page :)  Urgent Care places and clinics in pharmacies can diagnose respiratory infections for sure.  Hope you feel better!

  • Are u breastfeeding? Any sharp pains in one breast? Feels just like the flu too. Would need an Rx to treat.
  • @elmoali thank you for the help!

@kdc2007 I've heard of those but wasn't sure if they were decent or not.  I don't have to pay a copay so I'm not sure which place would be better

  • @mrsmichigander are you referring to mastitis?? If so.. it's definitely not that.  I had mastitis three times while on mat leave so I know what it feels like.  But you are right..it does feel the same pretty much.
