NWMR: Tell me about your beauty regimen

I'm on the hunt for a new skincare system.  I am starting to see changes in my skin as I approach the 30-year mark.  I think it may be time to upgrade from the drugstore brands and invest in something higher quality.  What skincare products do you use?

I am currently using a combo of Clinique and Estee Lauder cosmetics, but am sort of ready for a change in that area too.  If you have any cosmetics that you love, tell me about those too.

Re: NWMR: Tell me about your beauty regimen

  • I've been washing my face with olive oil for ten years now.  It's all I ever use to wash my face.  For daily moisturizer I use emu oil and sesame oil.  I have a clarisonic that I use for exfoliation and sometimes use apple cider vinegar as a toner.

I use ROC day cream if I'm going to go outside for an extended period and want an spf.  Sometimes at night I use an oil of olay night cream if I have something special the next day.

I'll be 35 in a few months and have no lines or wrinkles.  Most people say I look about 26.  (Not trying to brag... I just don't know how else to say how awesome it's been for me!  I'd get everyone to try it if I could, but most people think I'm a lunatic.)

  • Dr. Dennis Gross products are the absolute best skin care products I have ever used.  They are expensive but worth it IMO.

  • I like Origins.

  • 33 here.  This will really depend on what type of skin you have-- so FTR I have combo skin-- oily T zone with dry patches on my cheeks.  Fun.

I take off my makeup at night with Ponds cold cream.  It's a cream based cleanser/ makeup remover-- I spread it all over my face and tissue it off.  No rinsing.  I then use a petroleum based under eye cream (I like Physician's Formula)-- and that's it.  The "residue" from the Ponds keeps my skin moist.

In the AM I wash my face in the shower with Olay foaming cleanser and use Olay's firming night cream (yes, I use a night cream in the AM cuz I am crazy like that) all over my face.

I buy all of my face stuff at the drugstore.

  • Well, since I'm pushing 40 here's what I use and I get compliments on my skin all the time. To prevent aging, there are a few things you should be doing now.  Exfoliate at least 2x per week. This helps regererate the epidermis and assist in the product your using like moisturizer to penetrate the skin. Use a daily spf that contains Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. I use 50+ sunscreen every day, even if I'm in the office and it is rainy. A serum under your moisturizer. There are varying kinds of serum that you can get depending on what you need for  your skin (i.e. acne, dark spots). Lastly, a retnoid if your skin can handle it. Use it a few times a week. Your general practioner can prescribe it to you.

  • I use Philosophy's Miracle Worker regimen at night (retinoid pads, serum and lotion) then Josie Maran spf argan sunscreen for the daytime.  I also use her argan oil too if I'm feeling kind of dry from the heat being on all the time now.  I'm 30 and have a few lines in my forehead that I wanted to stop from getting any deeper.  You have to find what's right for your skin though.  I was using Aveeno for the longest time because it was the only thing that didn't make me break out in a rash or get a crazy case of acne.  I have sensitive skin that isn't oily or dry, just normal I guess.
  • My husband washes his face every night with some kind of stuff.  I never do but use alcohol pads with alcohol on them.  Everyone tells me it's bad for my skin but it works fine for me.  I don't even put lotion on after.  I have pretty good skin though.  I should probably do something else for my skin soon.
  • I wash my face with Neutrogena face wash day and night.  At night I also use make-up remover to make sure it's all gone.

    Day:

Philosophy or Lancôme depending on the level of humidity and Neutrogena SPF 55.

    Night:

Lancôme night time, deep moisturizing lotion and separate eye cream.  I also slather my face with Retin-A at night for fine lines.

I do have to use Noxema or Clearasil to keep the pores smooth and avoid the occasional blemish too.

I get quarterly facials on top of this.  I change this up during the humid Southern summers.
