PW Post 2

So based on some feedback from my previous post, I am going to move DD to her convertible car seat.  Here is the issue that I will have: my current stroller situation is a frame stroller that utilizes the infant seat.  I also have a jogger that lives in my garage, however if I put it in the trunk of my car I cannot fit anything else.  I also have the free umbrella stroller from a BRU promotion a few months back.  Which do I use/should I be looking into another stroller option?  I got the jogging stroller thinking I was going to jog once the baby was born to lose the weight (yeah, right), so I'm not opposed to trying to sell it and get a new one, and I do love it, just not how bulky it is.  I'm a little scared of using the umbrella stroller as the primary due to slouchiness and not having a place to put the diaper bag.  Any experiences/insight would be wonderful!

  • I love my uppababy g-lite.

Pros: only weighs 8.8lb and folds super small, tall handle bars unlike cheap umbrellas where you are hunched over

Cons: no basket for diaper bag and doesnot recline (the uppababy g-lux does)

Personally I don't think there is one perfect stroller for all your needs.  That is why I own 5 strollers

  • I've used a convertible car seat with a Maclaren Quest from the beginning. I love my Maclaren. It's lightweight, around 10lbs, and gives good support even when my LO was a few days old. I usually don't carry a diaper bag with me but the times I have I hang it on the back of the stroller.
  • And it doesn't tip?  That's what I'm worried about with the umbrella.  The Maclaren looks like it has similar handles.

  • I found a good deal on a Maclaren Triumph.  I think I'm gonna give that one a go.  The Joovy Kooper looked nice too, but I'm still worried about trunk space.

  • I have an Uppababy G-luxe I used as a primary stroller for almost 2 years with DS1. It was great as far as recline, ride, sunshade, and trunk space. The only other stroller I had was a SnG for the car seat. For 2 I use the Valco Snap Dual.

Everyone I knew had a Graco or Chicco travel system & hated it so I never bothered buying one.

    Lightweight doesn't equal slouchy.

  • So the follow up to the Maclaren recall was that it only affected strollers purchased between 1999 and 2009.  I think we should be out of the woods on that.  That said, would you buy one on Craiglist?

I would if it was a great deal. I think you can contact Maclaren (with serial number)to see if that was one of the strollers and get a repair kit for it. Those strollers last forever.

No I've never had it tip over but I also don't pack a lot in my diaper bag. I usually have a small bag that I toss in the basket underneath. You can buy attachments for the back if you want more storage.  I love the Maclaren. It's easy to open and fold up and very lightweight.
