Flying for work--carry on bags

Hi mamas--I tried to search the working moms board for an answer to this question, so sorry if this is a repeat of a recent thread, but I was curious of any of you who are breastfeeding and take your pump with you--do you basically just take your suitcase and your pump/bag?  I usually just take a roll-aboard size suitcase and a large purse big enough for my laptop, but I also have my pump bag--I have heard that pumps count as a medical device and don't count "against" you as a carry-on (so I could have my rollaboard, my purse/laptop bag, and my pump)--but wanted to see if anyone here has experience with that?

How many carry ons do you bring, or how do you go about packing?  My trip is a two night trip, but I have a three night trip in December.  TIA!

  • Yes, the pump bag doesn't count toward your carryon luggage, so you can do a pump, purse, and pull-behind suitcase. I usually try to fit my laptop in the suitcase and my wallet and Kindle in the pump bag, just because I feel like I run out of hands, though.

  • I did a two-night trip and was able to fit my pump in my carry-on (wheeled) suitcase. You could also take it out of the pump bag and just take the parts in a plastic shopping bag to give you more room.
