Whoever decided it was a great idea to have the master on a separate floor clearly did not have children. There's nothing I enjoy more than a good middle-of-the-night workout,
Fortunately this isn't our permanent house. We're here til spring and then back to our normal, bedrooms-on-the-top-floor house.
I told DH when we moved here it was going to be a problem. And he was all, nah ds will sttn. Yeah, because he has a proven track record of that (not). I'd kick him out of bed to deal with it, but feel bad he has to wake up early for work.
Our house has this. We were not thinking when we purchased it. The master bedroom has a sitting area off it. Ds's bed is there. I can not imagine running up and down stairs all night.
