Trying to Get Pregnant

Chemical Pregnancy? Do you see a line(if this is not the right board to post this, please redirect)

Ok, so DH and I have been TTC for a few months now.  I currently have a 14 month old, so I do know what to expect as far as preg symptoms.  Friday I was experiencing some of the beginning symptoms (sore breasts, nausesa, etc), so I decided to test.

The first test is from Friday around 1:30 pm, the others I used FMU yesterday and today.  After 3 minutes on all of the tests I could see the light line as the photo is showing, but I have also tested with other brands the past few days which have really shown pretty much negative results (a line sooooo faint you couldn't even tell/there wouldn't be a faint line until 5-10 min).

I am not sure why the lines are so incredibly faint and not getting darker, with my past pregnancy with DS the line was clear from day 1, and got progressively darker with each passing day it seemed...any input would be helpful, and if I am posting in the wrong board I apologize and please redirect me to the correct one.  Thanks ladies...++

  • From what I can see in the pictures, it does look like the lines are getting lighter each day, so there is a chance it could be a CP.  If that is the case, I'm very sorry. Test again in a few days. If you go 60 days without another BFP or AF call your doctor. Best of luck!

  • I know it's hard not to obsess (I've been there), but there are different amounts of dye in each test, so you can't really compare tests.  They do tell you not to use the tests to monitor rising HCG.

The only advice I can offer is to wait and try not to obsess (easier said than done)...it is possible it could become a CP...or not.

  • While not super dark, there are definite lines each day! Are you going to call your doctor tomorrow for a blood test?

These all look positive to me, and since the photo was taken well out of the timeframe for the tests, I don't think you can compare them reliably.

ETA: I honestly think you're KU, OP. Congrats!

  • Are you bleeding? When I had a CP I had bleeding. If you aren't then ...

    Two lines = pregnant. Congrats!

This. When I had my CP the lines got lighter and lighter as the days went on. If this is the case with you, my t's and p's (and hugs as well) are with you. However, Fx crossed it's your BFP!
  • I'm going to use my FMU to take another test in the am, then planning on calling the dr based on the results!  All feedback has been so helpful ladies!  Really appreciate it...I've definitely been obsessing...

  • I wouldn't run to the doctor. I'd just make my appointment for 9-12 weeks for my dating ultrasound. If it turns out to be a CP, you can just go in for a check up at that point.

I wouldn't hold to much faith in the fact that the lines are getting lighter. I'm pregnant now and I took a lot if preg test and I had some turn up lighter than the test before and I freaked out. Then my dr called to tell me my betas were definitely doubling. So there can be so many variables as to why some test may end up being lighter, it's not a scientific method peeing on sticks daily and them getting darker means a healthy pregnancy. My CP they got darker until I started bleeding then there was no line.

To me they all look the same. Good luck!

    It's a BOY

  • With both my CP's I never had a line for more than 2 days and the second day was lighter. Both had spotting before I tested, which stopped, but then my tests would go negative and I bled the next day.

  • They all look the same to me too. Good luck <3

  • Hi, I am sorry this is happening - a BFP and then stress about it sticking is not fair!  But I do want to share that I had chemicals in August & September, and this is exactly what happened both times.  The test was a definite BFN by 15 dpo and then AF started.  I used FRERs as well.  I went in for a beta at 15dpo on the last one, and my HCG was a 2.  :(

We are also TTC #2. Our DS is 10 months.

The only good news is that you don't have to wait a cycle or two to TTC again, you can try right away.  I know that doesn't make your loss any easier, but it helped me through it.

    Beta #1 - 10dpo = 50

    Beta #2 - 12dpo - 127

    Beta #3 - 24dpo - 15,594!

  • Janda-I am new to these boards. If there was a "rule" advising no posting of BFPs, then I apologize for missing this.  Your language is terrible rude and uncalled for. I was not about to post on here and tell her that I got a BFP, because that would be obnoxious.  I was trying to be supportive.

I have had two chemicals, and both times this is exactly how the tests looked.  She noted specifically in her post that with her DS she noticed progression and with these she has not.

If, for whatever reason, her tests are suddenly dark positive then that is wonderful!

Regardless, you obviously have an issue and are not worth my time.

LexiT - I apologize this is going on on your post. I wish you the best!

There are clearly 2 lines on each of those tests, you are KU!  Congratulations on your BFP!  And now I'm going to tell you to do the hardest thing to do right now. . . don't worry!  Call your doc, make an appointment (probably for 8-10 weeks) and then relax.  Don't compare this pregnancy with your DS, each pregnancy is different.  As PPs have stated, HPT are a yes/no kind of thing, don't interpret HCG levels based on the faintness of the line.

FX that everything is just fine and a H&H 9mos to you!

  • OP, I've had a CP in the past, had 3 days of squinters and then a negative/arrival of m/c.  No gradual decrease, just gone.  As long as you get lines, you are okay.  It can be a hard wait past that 'fear zone' where you feel the need to test daily.

And honestly, I did test daily with the cheapies until 5+ weeks with the next two pregnancies.  FWIW, there really wasn't a consistent gradual increase of color in the line. It went up and down a little but it never went away like it did the first time.  It just felt good to keep seeing those lines to make feel better each day.

Keep us updated and we'll keep fingers crossed for this to be your sticky baby!

The test all look great to me. For what it's worth, none of my pregnancy test lines increased in darkness. As far as I know two lines means you are good to go until a medical professional tells you otherwise.

I hope this is a happy, healthy pregnancy for you. Good luck & wishing you the best.

  • I can't thank you ladies enough for all of the advice and feedback, you are truly an amazing and supportive group of women!

Update, I took a dollar general brand test this morning, again FAINTTTTTTTTT line, like could barely see it, and it took 5 minutes for it to really even show up (longer than the test time says/3 minutes).  I am doing my best not to obsess, this is probably the first day that I only tested this morning....Does anyone know why my lines are showing up on FR but not on any other brand (any other brand I've taken would pass for negatives it seems like)...

I've heard FRER are the most sensitive. When is your period due? Have you given your dr a call?
  • I have not called my doctor, my period was due Saturday/Sunday (my schedule is a little off due to weaning).

It was negative at the 3 minute mark, the very very very faint line showed up @ 5-8 minutes, and got darker after 10, but the test says not to look after 10 minutes...

and by darker...I mean still so faint I can't even take a picture with it showing up.

  •  Are you going to call your doctor tomorrow for a blood test?
    Why
My doc does a blood test to confirm and check hcg and progesterone. I'm sure every office is different, but if that is how OP's office operates then it could be telling, doubling numbers and all that jazz.
  • Fingers crossed for you.

You ladies are going to think I'm crazy...prob because I am a little right now.

I was so stressed over the neg dollar general test, that I went out and bought a FR and CB (I was going to get a digi CB, but grabbed the wrong box ugh), both showed faint positives, but super faint again!  I called the doctor to ask him about it, I know this stress is not good either way. :-\
Good Lord. Why do you keep posting when you just keep ignoring everything people are telling about using fmu, using same test brand, waiting a few days?

I am mobile so idk if you have a history of losses but please don't borrow trouble. If you want to keep posting sticks - go to canyouseealine or babycenter.
