My daughter turned 6 months on November 2nd. She has been on reflux meds since about 2 weeks old. At our 6 month check up the pedi gave us the ok to stop the zantac when we ran out which we did and she seems to be doing well. In addition to the zantac we were also thickening her bottles with cereal. Does anyone have any suggestions about using the cereal? Do we stop cold turkey? Wean her off the cereal (maybe use half the amount per bottle)? We have been trying to start solids off and on for the past month and half and only recently (as of this past week-end) does she seem somewhat interested.
If you recently stopped the meds then I would give it a good week before changing the bottles. We just started lowering my daughters dose (she's 8.5months) at 6months we tried and it failed. But, fingers crossed, I think she is doing good with out this time!! That said, the meds can stay in the system for a couple days so keep an eye out for a few days!
We Bf so can't comment on the way to cut the cereal out. I just don't see harm in waiting a bit longer to ensure she adjusts fine to not getting the meds anymore.
we have a Happy Spitter as diagnosed recently. We use the Up & Up brand of Enfamil AR - her spit up is DRASTICALLY reduced! As in I only washed burp clothes once last week, not 3 times.
