STMs....carrier opinions?

Trying to finish up our registry and am thinking about carriers. I have no idea what will be best. My sisters have done the moby wrap, which they always had to wrap it for me cause I couldn't figure it out. Plus not sure dh would care for it. The other ones I really have no idea. Are there any other there that are way better than others?

  • I think there is a thread a couple pages back that got lots of replies. Someone even posted a chart. It might be pretty helpful for you!

  • I love our Moby and ring sling for the first few months. The Baby Bjorn worked OK for awhile, but really started to make my back hurt once DS got a little heavier. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Boba 3G, which is pretty comparable to the Ergo and Beco for SSCs. DS is almost 14 months and we still use the Boba pretty often. It's supposed to be able to carry toddlers up to 35lbs, so we should be able to use it for awhile.
  • I have a moby, ring sling, and the bjorn. I think the bjorn is easiest to use but my DD is one now and I still use the ring sling when I need to contain her from running away but she won't sit in stroller. Moby is okay. Nice for young babies but not the easiest to use.

The moby is simple if you give yourself some time to practice. That being said, I also have an ergo and love it for 4 months and older. I didn't have an insert because I didn't read many good reviews at the time and I felt like my dd was more comfy in the moby wrap. I recently purchased a Sakura Bloom ring sling and I'm totally in love! It's easy peasy to throw on and my 14 months prefers it over the ergo. I think it's going to be awesome for our tiny one when he/she arrives in April. I really would try to practice with a moby and see if you can make it work because they're awesome with tiny, squishy babes :) if so, the solly wraps are amazing! So much lighter and thinner than the moby. I got one since the weather will be changing over to warm/hot and I think the solly will be more comfortable in the heat. Also, I would skip the Bjorn. They have been shown to cause hip displaysia due to the way it holds baby by the tops of their legs/crotch area. I'm not saying that it would definitely happen to your baby, but why chance it?
  • We didn't love the Bjorn or snugli and they aren't good carriers. We LOVE our standard kinderpack. Its worth every penny. Super supportive and adjustable. Very Fast to switch between dh and me wearing it. For the newborn stage this time I bought a ktan breeze and plant to get a Mei tei

  • For something comparable to the Moby Wrap, that is lightweight, I have heard great things about the K'Tan, and I plan to get one this time.  The Ergo is also great and will last you a long time.  DS is 2.5 and still fits in ours for hikes.

  • We have and love both the Moby and the Beco Gemini. If you watch a few YouTube videos, the Moby becomes a snap.

  • Thanks for responses ladies. I do love the moby cause once its on its super comfy. Just hard to get on. I'm going to look for the previous thread as well I did look before posting but didnt see anything
  • I had a Beco Butterfly II and it was a great carrier but I could not get a good fit for me. I sold it and have now purchased an Ergo. Hoping it works better for us. I really wanted a Boba but for the price I had to go with the Ergo for now. I am so not a wrap person.
