Still no baby but I'm in love already

I'm in love with this epidural that I absolutely did not want! I made it to 5cm and had to have it or else DH would have a broken hand right now :)

Anyone else majorly change their decision? So far my birth plan has gone completely out the window and I'm actually ok with that.

Re: Still no baby but I'm in love already

  • Up until my third tri I was all for the epi. I'm a whimp when it comes to pain. Then I reevaluated and decided that I want to try without the epi. Hey maybe I can do it. It would mean so much to me if I could. Child birth is natural so for me I'd like to keep it that way. However if I decide that I need it then I need it. It's there for a reason and I like having that option. First priority is getting her out safe so even if I have to go the least natural rout I'll be happy because I have her. Obviously I haven't gone into labor yet but I'm just trying to be as flexible as possible.

  • @angeliaG8 that's pretty much how I was. My dream was for this whole process to be completely natural. But I had to be induced because I was 12 days overdue. I'm just happy to meet our little girl and the epi really helped her relax too, and she's making progress
  • Glad it's going well for you. Keep up the good work!

  • I like the epi a lot too, until my bp plummeted lol. Doc said next time if I have a baby tell them only half the dose. In a light weight for the epi lol
  • I went into the hospital thinking I wanted the epidural when I got to about 5cm. I decided I wanted it way back in the beginning of my pregnancy and never thought twice about it...until I was in labor. My contractions started at 11am and I was thinking to myself "I can do this without one, these are not as bad as I thought they would be!" So I got to the point where I had to make a decision because the anesthesiologist was not at the hospital. I looked at my nurse and asked her if she would make sure I made it with no pain meds and she promised me I would be ok. So I figured why not? I had my first contraction at 11am and he was out at 2:40pm. I had no tearing or issues with my delivery. I'm so happy I did it without an epi. I'm now one week pp and I'm almost totally healed!
  • The anesthesiologist was my BFF - Bradley method and other all natural mothers, you are my heroes!!!
  • Hoping to go med free here, but I already know there is NO way I could face induction without an epi!

Glad you're doing well, and hope to see squish pictures soon!! :D
  • I didn't plan to have one or not to have one .... I figured I would see how things went .... I caved and it was amazing!!!
  • Having two with and now one without, I say it all depends on labor. Got epi at 8cm with DS1 bc I was barfing due to pain. It was heaven. With DS2 epi at 5cm and it really didn't work and labor was tough. Pushing/tearing/burning. DD1 most of painful contractions were two nights before! They NEVER became consistent. Easiest birth yet and it was med free?! Wish my body could make up its mind!!
