Umbrella Stroller

Has anyone switched over to an umbrella stroller yet? I am debating on it. We have the Chicco Cortina travel system and A sits in the regular stroller part now. We still use the infant carseat but rarely ever take it out of the car. The travel system is so heavy I think it is time to switch over. We have the Chicco liteway plus.

I was just looking at the weight difference between the travel system and the liteway and there is only a 3 lb difference. I am thinking of returning it and getting the Uppa baby G-luxe. Does anyone have the g-luxe?

ETA : edited to ask another question :)

  • We have the glite and I love it! If only they made a double.

  • I looked at the g- luxe. It was nice but the storage basket was really small and that was a deal breaker. I'm going to look at a maclaren and the Joovy Kooper today.
Eta: I also returned the baby jogger city mini GT because of the small storage basket. We have a PPB boxy backpack and it wouldn't even fit through the opening.

I still think you'd love the Valco Snap or Zee. I love the Snap Dual...and it has a huge basket. The City Mini & Maclaren doubles were deal breakers for me this time because I have a huge diaper bag with 2. Plus the Snap weighs less.

I have the G-luxe and used it for 2 years. Love it. Very easy to use and excellent sunshade. We started using it with DS1 at 3 months. If you need more storage for 2 more lbs look at the Valco Snap. I have the double and I love it as well.

  • We looked at the uppa baby and it was too short for DH to push comfortably (he's 6'7). We ended up with the Bumbleride Flite and I love it. It comes with the attachment to put the infant carrier on it if needed. It is pricey but we had the 10% registry completion coupon and gift cards to use. Since my mom has DS during the day it's the stroller she uses. She is 68 with COPD and had foot surgeries and she can easily get it in and out of her car without a problem. For an umbrella I strongly suggest getting one with two handles instead of the straight bar because it folds so much smaller. The basket isn't huge but it fits my Vera Bradley diaper bag without a problem and having two handles I can hang other bags if needed from them. We have the Indie for our main big stroller and this one was mainly for quick errands and for my mom to use
  • I have the bumbleride flite umbrella stroller and love it... Realize that isn't answering your question, but at least on the same topic ;)

I'm interested in the Valco snap. Is it big at bulky?

It's not big at all. I have the double and it will fit in most trunks (you may have to take the wheels off for the double), so the single should be no problem. The specs are on the website:

    https://www.valcobaby.com

You may want to check amazon and albeebaby for deals..they do go on sale. I have amazon mom for cheap diapers and the bonus is I get free shipping and returns on most things.

If you are looking used you might like the Aprica Presto...cute little stroller we looked at 2 years ago. DH didn't like the fold, but great basket.

I have it in Aqua and it looks great. When I go to the "good" park I definitely get stroller envy from the other moms.
  • Has anyone on here researched or liked the Combi? Someone suggested that one to since you can fold it up and carry it on your shoulder--but it's still sturdy and comfortable with a good shade. They said it was similar to the Maclaren.

It was nice but just okay. There are a few more features that would make it nice. The (Uppababy) G-luxe has a great shoulder strap that's part of the design. I believe the Joovy Ultralight Groove has one as well. Both of those are similar to the Maclaren. I went in for a Maclaren ended up with a G-luxe.

You're welcome. If anyone is looking at used strollers btw just be aware that Maclaren had several recalls about 2 years ago with finger amputations.

  • OK, @FmrAFBrat, you have the single G-luxe and the double Valco. Would you have picked the single Valco back then? And why or why not?

I ask because it looks like I am stuck between those two and the Joovy lightweight. I like the over-the-shoulder portability (I have to travel a lot to see family), but I see the Valco can be rolled behind you. I am also going to try to see them in person for height.

It's a hard toss up. My G-luxe weighs 13 lbs and I looked up the (single) Snap and it weighs in at 13 lbs as well (the double is 22lbs if you were wondering).

I like the sunshade and the fabric on the G-luxe better, it's really nice to the touch. With one baby the diaper bag I carried was smaller and looked like a purse...so the basket wasn't an issue. However, you can't hang anything on the G-luxe without it tipping over.

The Snap pushes 1 handed, has a better basket, and is all terrain. The fabric repels stuff and is easy to wipe, but isn't soft. You will be able to get air tires for it next year. It's also newborn rated and now has car seat adaptors. It really could be your all in one stroller. It looks like the single has a shoulder strap too.

So...I'd do the Snap in most situations. However, I've only seen the Zee in Buy Buy Baby. It's a little heavier and more like a fancy City Mini. The Zee is carried behind you.

I did like the G-luxe a lot in the airport though.
