Coffeemonster19

Remember when you were asking about IUDs and issues? I said I was having issues too. Well today I went for a transvaginal ultrasound and my doctor came in and told me that I had to have the IUD taken out today. She said it's so low and because of that, it's ineffective so I've had no BC for the past 5 months. I've also developed a 10cm cyst on my left ovary :/ I was just having pain and irregular bleeding and she said that's why.

Are things better for you?

Did you have any indication that it was out of place? Could you tell from the strings or anything? I'm not very good at remembering to check them so this makes me paranoid.

Sorry the IUD was a no go for you. Hope they can find a good alternative!

  • I'm curious about the answer to @Kate_c question too. I've had pain every week that feels like period cramps plus wacky bleeding (what feels like every day but I know it's not. Probably every few days though). I had it checked 6 weeks after it was inserted and they said all was good.

  • I had the IUD for 5 years before I got pregnant and I loved it. I had no periods, no cramping, or irregular bleeding. The strings were fine she said. I would randomly start bleeding out of nowhere for 1-2 days. Some days I would spot for a couple of days. The pain was so bad and at times, unbearable. She said it was painful because it was too low and I was bleeding randomly/spotting bc of the location-- I wasn't getting the hormones so my body didn't even react to me as having it. It's been going on for awhile I just had a feeling something was up.

    Thank you @Kate_C :)
  • Sorry you were in so much pain. That's awful! Hope it quickly resolves with the IUD out.

  • Thank you @Kate_c I really appreciate it!

Thank you @coffeemonster19! I am just glad that they found out what was going on. My OB/GYN checked the strings yesterday and said they were perfect but wanted to have a peace of mind so she ordered the US and sure enough, there were the problems.
I'm glad that you're going to the doctor to address/get a peace of mind. I know when we have kids it's all about them and I kept neglecting my concerns. We have to be our biggest advocates!! I hope you get the answers you need and that you can get your hormones in line if that's the case! Good luck to you and I know it can be stressful, but it'll all work out great!
  • OMG how scary! Good thing you went to the doctor!
