what does your 8 month old baby's schedule look like. My little one was pretty routine until he hit 8 months now not so much, so I thought we'd try to get him on the schedule. I think it would benefit the whole family.
We haven't scheduled our 8month old but she does have some natural rhythms to her day that resemble a routine.
She eats every 2hrs day and night...has since about 4 weeks old. Occasionally I can get her to go 2.5 hrs but it takes a good amount of effort on my part. I myself am a snacker and don't go much longer than 2hrs without needing some food and she definitely has that in her.
Her prime sleep time is 1.5hrs after waking. She gets cranky quickly after that. I have been trying to stretch her longer and aim for 2hrs awake before next nap. If I can get her to last that 2hrs her day usually consists of two 2-2.5hr naps and one 45min nap before supper. She goes down between 7-7:30 and sleeps until 6:45 when daddy wakes her to play before work, she tends to go down for her first nap about 1hr after waking. If daddy doesn't wake her then she sleeps through until 8:45-9am.
This of course is all thrown out the window on swimming or music class days when she sleeps around the activity schedule and then her day is thrown off timing wise. If we are out and about she tends to have 30-45min naps in the baby carrier then wakes to watch the excitement.
She adapts quite easily and can go a longer stretch when out of the house (3hrs) but come bedtime she clearly is exhausted and melts down and needs a lot of help to get to sleep.
So, basically aside from the fact she needs to nurse every 2hrs and to sleep every 1.5-2hrs we have no schedule. I just keep her fed and rested and she remains very laid back and incredibly happy and easy going.
DD was 8 months on the 6th and she just dropped her 3rd nap last week. She wakes around 6 - 7, naps about 3 hours later and her 2nd nap is about 3 to 3 1/2 hours after 1st nap ends. She goes to bed around 6 or 7......3 to 4 hours after last nap. She is EBF so she eats about every 3 hours and for solids I just started giving her 3 meals....usually when we eat.
My daughter just turned 9 months. She is not on a schedule at home but it can closely resembles the one my babysitter has. She usually takes 1 morning nap at 10 am for an hour. Then she takes a 2 hour naps in the afternoon at 1pm. She eats 6.5 oz every 3 hrs like clockwork and 2-3 "solid" meals in between. On the weekend we are usually running around and/or visiting family so we're always off. For now she is my first and only so we never really bothered with a schedule.
630- bottle and back to bed 830- wake up, play in crib 9- breakfast, oatmeal and fruit 10- bottle 1045- nap 1230- up from nap and out for activities, errands, etc 1- bottle 330- bottle 345-nap 515- up from nap and dinner 615-bottle 730-bath, book, bottle, bed
He started this all on his own and everything happens around the same time every day. Give or take 15 minutes either way. I'm super organized and scheduled. Guess he got that from me. It's nice knowing what to expect but I know it'll change soon and I'm okay with that.
I'm thinking of getting rid of one bottle and going up an ounce in the others and maybe adding lunch soon.

About how much food do you give? I use 2 tablespoons of dry oatmeal mixed with formula and then about 2 cubes (ice cube tray size) of fruit sometimes she will take 3!! Also how many ounces of formula each bottle?

B is a big eater. Always has been. He gets about 5oz per bottle except his bedtime bottle which is 8.
He gets a jar/pouch of food at a time. So about 4 oz.
Jeez. I imagine that DW and I are really messing things up, LO does not go to bed until 9:30 to 10:15
He is not always on schedule but usually:
7:00 Wake up
7:30 bottle and play
8:30 - 11:30 am nap
12 bottle
2:00 solids - puree fruit
3:00 bottle
3:30-5:00 nap
5:30 dinner solids - puree meat/veggie
6:00 bottle
8:00 bath/wipe down (still doing bath every other night and wipe on off nights)
8:30 story time
9:00 final bottle
9:30 bed
But those times can move by 30-45 minutes in either direction depending on the day. He is not a big eater, has never been since the first month in the NICU. Drinks 22 oz of 27 calorie formula per day. Solids usually 2 oz serving but lately been 4 oz of the fruit breakfast and 2oz dinner. On the weekends, DW works and I am full in charge, this past weekend I added a 3rd solids meal of 2 oz of yobaby at 11:30 am.
630 - wake and nurse 745 - breakfast at daycare; small bottle before nap (2 oz?) 830-945/10 - nap; bottle at wake up 1130/1200 - lunch; small bottle before nap 1230-230 - nap; bottle at wake up 500 - nurse 530 - dinner 630 - nurse 645 - bedtime nurse at least once overnight
