Best Chairs Recliner...Do we need power recline?

My husband and I went to our local baby furniture store this evening and decided on a Best Chairs Irvington recliner. Originally I didn't think we needed to spend the extra money on the power recline option, but now I'm wondering if it's worth it since the lever on the side might be hard to reach with a baby in my arms. Does anyone have any experience with the power feature and/or just the regular lever? Thanks!!

  • We have a Best Chairs recliner - Denton - with the regular lever. It worked fine, but a push button sounds really nice. How much extra will it cost?

  • I think they said about $100 extra. My husband was all for it at the store, but now that we're home I'm beginning to think he may have been right haha.
  • Same thing happened to us. Hubby sold me on the idea of the power recline. We think it'll be less disturbing when trying to get out of chair with sleeping LO.
FTM here and chair has yet to arrive so no experience with it yet.
But if its only $100 I'd say go for it :)
  • Thanks for your input ladies! After much convincing from my husband, we called and added the power recline feature to our chair! Hope it's worth it. @MaryBB77, hope you like your recliner too!  :)
  • We have the lever, it has never been an issue. I would worry that a toddler could get themselves in trouble with a power recline.

  • That's a good point too, @AKB090609. Minutes after I posted that we decided to go with the power feature, we realized if we got it, we would lose the swivel feature of the chair. They didn't mention this at the store. I'd rather have the swivel since it will work better with the layout of the furniture in the nursery. We called the store again and went back to getting the plain old lever. Hubby is a little disappointed, but either way I know we will have a super comfortable chair for sitting in!

I agree.  This is why we chose the lever.

  • I recently ordered my Best glider/recliner and haven't received it yet, so I can't offer much help.  I decided against the power recline option, in part because I thought it might lead to more repair problems than the manual lever.  The one I bought has a manual lever buried between the seat cushion and the side to make it more difficult for toddlers to get into trouble with it. Lastly, I just didn't think the power recline was worth the extra money.
  • Thanks again for your opinions! I'm feeling good about our decision to go with the lever. @SkiHorse, I don't think ours is between the cushion and side like yours, but that sounds awesome! Hope we all enjoy those countless hours of sitting in our Best chairs!  :)
  • I have no opinion on the lever but we have a Best Chair in the nursey and I just wanted to say it is seriously the best chair on the house. LOVE IT!
