Good poll! I am definitely on the fence. DH and I opted out last time because we knew that we wouldn't make any decisions based on the outcome. We ended up losing that pregnancy before we would have gotten the scan anyway. This time around (assuming we make it that far) I am leaning toward taking advantage of the opportunity to see if baby is still doing OK in there. I'm admittedly paranoid.
I was definitely on the fence and leaning towards no.
I talked to DH and he really wanted to do it. I also want to see the baby again on the ultrasound at 12 weeks, so now we are going to do it.
I definitely don't think it is fair to assume that everyone who has the scan would "take action" were something wrong. Everyone handles information differently, and some people prefer more information and to be prepared. Others (like me) just want to see the baby as much as possible!
If it's offered, I'll take it, but I don't think one will be offered to me. My insurance typically only pays for one if you are AMA or have risk factors.
I'm going to opt out. I'm high risk and AMA, but the nt scan will not provide any information that will make any difference to how I proceed. If there are any problems, the anatomy scan will pick them up and I am happy to follow up with the Materniti21. It would just make me stress to find out any earlier.

@tigerlily12345 I'm so sorry - I might have given that impression! I do not assume this at all.
ETA: There are many decisions that might be informed by the results of an NT scan. These include: further more invasive diagnostic testing, birth plans that include home birth, birthing center birth, vs hospital birth, and certainly (and understandably) the decision to terminate the pregnancy could be on the table given the results. We talked about what we wanted for all of these things, decided that it was unlikely that we would change any of our existing plans where these things were concerned, so we decided to opt out.
I think DH and I will discuss it when the time comes. At this point I really have no idea what I want to do.
They asked me really early on! They mentioned the screenings at my confirmation appointment at 4w5d and asked for a decision at my first appointment at 7w. I wasn't really prepared at either of those to know how to answer.
I told them I needed to think about it & I just called them back to add it to my next appointment (when I will be 11w5d)

Of course not. But, my reason is that I wouldn't take action and it would stress me out. My saying that is not a commentary on what you would or wouldn't do. I deal with enough anxiety as it is. I don't need to add to it.
My H really doesn't want to do it. I plan on seeing if my insurance will cover it (it most likely won't) and we will go from there. Chances are we won't do it though, I don't want the extra worry.
I'm doing the blood test but results wouldn't prompt me to take any different route in this pregnancy. It would be nice to know though if something were a bit different about this child. We are team green so that's enough if a surprise!
Ive never heard of a NT scan. I googled it and saw what it is though. In my other pregnancies they just offered the blood test. It came back positive with my first so they did another ultrasound at a different place (I was like 18-20 weeks) and they told me the stuff they were looking for (I know something about the fingers was one thing) and they told me they didnt see anything. Either way I would have kept her. I think it would be good to know simply because sometimes there are other issues that need to be addressed (my friend has a baby with downs syndrome and they found out in womb that her heart was not doing well so they took her by csection to not stress the heart out then she had to have surgery at 6 months... shes doing great now at almost 2!!) but I know I would choose to have my baby reguardless of anything that would come up.
I did it with my son and will do it this time around also. I didn't have to pay anything other than a copay because I was AMA with my first and will be with my second. I just wanted as much information as possible to guide my decision making in the second tri. And it was a great opportunity to get an ultrasound!
Yes, I had an NT Scan with both my babies. In the first one my bloodwork, fluid measurement and u/s results were fine. For the second one my bloodwork and fluid measurement were fine, but there was no nasal bone present. This led us to make the decision to have an amnio, of which the results concluded that DS has a chromosomal abnormality. I appreciate the foreknowledge that testing provides.
We had one with DD and will absoluely have one again. My insurance covered it though, not sure if I would still do it if I had to pay 1k+ out of pocket. I think the knowledge is important and it could affect my decision.
Absolutely. We did terminate for a lethal form of skeletal dysplasia at 20 weeks last year, and it could have been caught at the NT scan, but I didn't know they were even an option. So this time, we will be opting in for all non-invasive options and going to invasive if anything is brought to light during those tests.
We did it with the last 2 and I will with this one. My reasoning is, if we are high risk then I have to go out of town since the only OBGYN here is not a high risk doctor. Our facility cannot handle babies that are sickly and they would have to ship them. If I can, then I want to deliver where the baby will be. Of course things can always go wrong even with a perfectly healthy and normal pregnancy. I just want to be prepared any way I can.
I will be 39 in a week, so we are doing the Materniti21 or Verify blood test at 10 weeks and an NT scan shortly after. The new blood tests are such a great option - and provide definitive answers unlike the scans which just give a ratio. They weren't available when I was pregnant with my son in 2011.
The midwife I saw at my first "yay, you're pregnant" appt said he could send a referral for the NT and Harmony test to the perinatologist I saw for my GD, but insurance would have to approve it first I stupidly took my toddler to this appt and he was having a shit fit by the time we got into the room to talk with the midwife, so I'm not sure why he thinks I should be referred for these tests. If ins will cover it though, I will get them done...because it'd be cool to find out the sex so early and see the baby on the ultrasound since I otherwise wouldn't get one until the A/S. I'm also in the "the more information the better" camp in case something were to be wrong.

Not doing it this time. I'll just pay for an extra ultrasound at a boutique place. I only wanted the extra us to begin with
