How do I get mold smell out of a bottle!? The bottle was forgotten and it grew mold. I put it through the dishwasher but it still smells. What would get the odor out? Should I just toss it?
I'd probably toss it, but bleach would be my suggestion. 10% solution. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse with copious amounts of water then run through the dishwasher for good measure. Bleach degrades pretty quickly when exposed to water.

Yeah, steam could work too. Just doesn't have the pressure for a stubborn organism that you would need, but that would probably destroy the bottle too. I'm a microbiologist, so I love bleach. 10% solution, 10 minute contact time, kills everything! Unfortunately it corrodes metal and bleaches fabrics... But anything but fabric can usually stand a 10 minute one time soak. Hydrogen Peroxide kills everything too, 3% solution (probably pre-mixed in the drug store at that strength).

Thanks guys! I'll try soaking it, if that doesn't work, I'll just toss it. I'm not worried about it being dirty still, that smell is gross though! Ick!
