Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Rolling onto tummy and waking up

My lo is almost 6 months old and the last 3 or 4 days during naps and the night she rolls onto her tummy, gets frustrated that she can't get back onto her back, and then cries. We go in to "flip her back" but she immediately rolls back onto her tummy and starts crying again (and this goes on and on and on). We've tried giving her some time so she can figure out how to flip back herself but she just works herself into a frenzy. Any ideas?

Re: Rolling onto tummy and waking up

  • My son was also doing this for a few days and then it passed. Now he does it occasionally.    I think they just need some time to remember how to flip back to front. I'd just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully this is just a phase!

  • Thanks! Hope it just passes!
  • Agree with it's just a phase and just gotta keep doing what your doing. Once my son learned how to roll onto his tummy that's the way he sleeps all night. I always put him down on his back but he just flips instantly. He can roll both directions but he never rolls onto his back when he's sleeping.
