Wicked

My DH took me to see it on Saturday afternoon.  It was amazing!!!  I'd never seen it before, but really loved it.  The Wicked Witch was just misunderstood!!!  :)

  • It is an awesome story. I've seen it in Chicago and New York. I can't wait to take DD when she is old enough.
  • I freaking LOVE that play.  Glad you had a good time!

  • OMG I LOVE Wicked! DH took me to see it for my birthday two years in a row!

I agree - the book is much darker. I enjoyed reading it, but I look at it as it's own separate entity because there were definitely some major differences between that and the play.

  • @Drea926 I think that's how I'll try to look at it.  I'm just dying to read the book now.

The play was just so good.  I was crying when Glinda and Elphaba were talking before she died.  DH was laughing at me.  Whatever, I blame the parasite in my ute.

Oh, and Defying Gravity gave me major chills.  Gah!!  I just loved it!!!!

  • @ChickenonSunday I didn't have any trouble.  I was actually worried I would b/c I had never seen the show before and didn't even really know the plot.

  • I loved the show, but hated the book! It took me forever to finish the book, but the show was surprisingly awesome!

  • Yeah, the book and the show are completely different and even have different endings.  That said, they are both good in their own way.

I love the show.  I've seen it 6 times.  I really want to go back to see it since it's in chicago right now.  Maybe I will.
  • It's one of my favorites. I've seen it 3 times and I'm waiting for it to come back to my city again!

  • HOLY CRAP the tickets are really expensive this time around.  $108 for shitty balcony seats.  WTF?

I've seen it three times while not pregnant and Defying Gravity makes me cry EVERY TIME.  I love Wicked.  That, RENT, Next to Normal and Dr Horrible is what i listened to while decorating DD's nursery!

  • LOVE Wicked!! I got the book for Christmas 1998 and didn't see the play until it had already been out for over 5 years. When I finally did see it I went with my bestie who I had previously made read the book! OMG! That is the best way to see the BEST play!!

@LuckyDad Have you read the sequels? Son of  Witch is good, Lion Among Men dragged, but Out of Oz was awesome and even made me want to go back and reread Lion Among Men to pick up some key details. Then there's other books by Gregory Maquire... Mirror Mirror (Snow White) and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister (Cinderella) are good. I felt the same way about Lost (Alice in Wonderland) as I did about Lion Among Men.
  • @hiddenmickey I went home last night and ordered Wicked and Son of a Witch off Amazon.  I can't wait!!
