Staying awake...how long

Just curious about how often is your LO awake on an average day? I know it will vary depending on age...my LO is 7 weeks, almost 3 adjusted age (preemie), Sometimes during the day he will go through of a routine of eat, sleep, cry...then wake to eat again and immediately fall back asleep with very little waking time. But other times he will be awake for 4-5 hour stretches....just wondering if this is normal since its not at all consistent. Also, he never naps for more than 3 hours at a time bc he always wakes up wanting to eat every 2-3. I just feel like we should be getting in more "play" time.

    My LO is almost sux weeks and she has two very distinct periods when she is awake. In the mid morning and in the evening she will stay awake between feedings (about three hours). Beyond that she's only awake to eat...

    She wakes up at 1 am for an hour then same thing at 4 am. She is up for a few hours after 7 until 10 then is up around 1 pm. She is up for a few hours. I try to get her to go to bed before 9 pm.
