Babies: 3 - 6 Months

5m old bedtime

LO is 5m next week and passes out around 6:45pm for the night. I go back to work later this month and won't be home til close to 6:15pm and I will be heart broken if she is asleep for the night within 30 min of me coming home! :(((

Re: 5m old bedtime

  • Ugh I'm going through the same thing (not as bad though) I get home at 5:00. Lo goes down at 7:00, with the bedtime routine starting at 6:30. It sucks...will your lo wake before you leave? I get an hour of awake time before I leave. I've also started crockpot and frozen dinners so I don't waste precious time cooking. Good luck!

  • Yea I'll have about 2 hours in the morning. With my 2 yr old I had 2 hours in the morning and 2 at night ad that sucked. This is gonna break my heart.

  • I completely understand and feel for you as well.  I try to stay strong and tell myself that having a happy child far outweighs the want to keep her awake longer to play with her.  I want her to get the best rest possibly and do not want an overtired baby---no good for anyone.  If my daughter takes her 2 naps a day she still needs a short 20-30 min nap right when we get home around 5 pm.  It's so tough to get home and put her down right away.  As long as she gets that 20-30 min. nap in she can make it to 7pm bedtime.  However, if she has off naps at daycare (which she has been lately) then she is too overtired around 5 pm to take that little nap.  So then if she doesn't take a snooze then....that means I put her down ever earlier like 6:15 if she's super on edge.......I just hate not having more time with her, but I really want a happy healthy baby girl more and can't be selfish wanting to spend time with her :(
  • E takes her last nap around 5pm for about 30-45 min and then is out for the night around 6:30/7.  I just look forward to weekends…..

  • Can you try slowly moving bed time back a little?  We got our DD in the routine of going to bed at 8:30pm and waking up at 7:30 am, so she still gets her 10-12 hours a night of sleep, and she's not waking me up too early in the morning.
  • Usually 9pm but sleeps till 8am.
  • I pick up DS at day care at 5:15 and we get home at 5:30.  He goes to bed between 6 and 6:30 most nights.  It stinks but it's what he needs in terms of sleep so I try to make the most of the time we have together.
  • What is this early bedtime you all speak of? LO is 4.5 months and the earliest she will go down and stay down is 845, and that's rare.

My thoughts too! We get home almost around 6pm. I'm happy he doesn't go to bed till 9pm. He gets a good nights rest and naps 2-3 times a day too. I'd be sad if he went to bed earlier.
  • She must have read my post bc she woke up a little bit ago and is wide awake on my lap at 11pm! I'm confused lol!

  • Wow! I'm a little jealous. My LO won't sleep until 11pm or midnight and that's when she has a good day. She is usually up around 8 or 9am. Some days she won't sleep during the day at all no matter what I do!
