About to ask dumb question

I admit it !

I got 40000 sleepers from my MIL , do they go on by themselves? Over a onesie ? Over a footed sleeper thingie ?? He just wears the latter now all the time so I don't know what to do with them and never used them with ds1

I think those are called layettes? I put them on over the diaper instead of jammies. Then I swaddle or put a sleep sack over it. I love those things. They make motn diaper changes so much easier since I'm not messing with any more snaps or zippers.

  • I put my LO in with just her diaper but she runs warm. At night she's naked with a swaddle blanket and swaddle sack and in the morning if we are just hanging at home I'll put her in a fleece or cotton sleep sack depending on the weather. She loves hers. I don't think there is a wrong way to wear them, however your LO seems comfortable is probably fine.

  • Ok yes sleep gown , that's it ! Haaa

  • Sounds like you're describing a gown? I put DD to bed in those sometimes but she always goes to bed with a sleep sack/swaddler on top. I would just put a pair of socks on him if he's just in the gown though. Does it look like this?

    Yes!

The layette is the set of clothes for your baby... Like a wardrobe, not necessarily that one specific piece
Good to know. Thanks! I've definitely been calling those sleep gowns layettes X_X

I know, right! I wonder how long I can get away with blaming it on sleep deprivation.

  • I loooove the sleep gowns! We do not layer, just diaper underneath. If they are longer than lo's feet, they will not bunch up.

  • It depends on how cold it is in the house too, but he might kick his legs out (see pic) and get cold. I think the gowns are weird and a bear to get on, but once they're on they make for easy MOTN diaper changes.

@awwpuddin see this is why I hate the gowns. They ride up. What is the point?

Diaper changes are easier, but really that's the only positive, they can't go in the car seat either. Deft prefer footie sleepers with the hand cuffs. I need some baby legs.
Me too, but I've had a hard time finding footed sleepers with the mittens. Bonus points for a zipper instead of snaps.

    Zippers are the shit.

Ditto. LO runs warm so it works.
    Anniversary

  • I like them for during the day. I usually put on socks too but they never last.

i believe i did a PSA on zipper footed sleepers way back in the day!

  • I tried the gown once & I think I just did socks with it, but the neck opening was so huge that it stretched down & just didn't seem comfortable.

Another dumb question... I tend to put a onesie under everything. Are you putting one under the zip footed sleepers? I'm a fan of those too

  • I use gowns during the day with onesie, baby legs and socks. It's cold! At night i would take her out of gown leave the rest and sleep sack over it.
