We are loving short one syllable names ..

Kate Veronica
Lue Kathryn

Murphy is the last name .. We know Lue is super different but that's why we love it .. We're not crazy about the names Louise Lucy etc

Thoughts?

I like Lou. I love unique names. Not weird made up names that will ruin a kids life but unique enough to where there won't be 4 others with their name in their class. But speaking as someone with a unique name if you are going to pick a name spell it as normal as possible. After 26 years it still annoys the bologna out of me having to spell my name every time I call for an appointment or reservation.

I've seen it spelled both ways Lou/Lue .. I just wanted it to have a little feminine touch and thought Lue brought that out a little more ??

I dont' mind Lue and actually do like Lue vs Lou. It's not made up so I do prefer it, plus it means "light" kind of nice...Honestly spelling your name especially a short name is not a big deal. I ask almost everyone to spell their names anyway these days. And I've always had to spell mine and it takes like 2 seconds, no biggie. I do like too that you're pairing it with such a feminine mn.

To me Kate is too common.

I like Kate. Lue is just too much of a NN to me to be a FN, and by being a NN for Lucy, Louise, or whatever else, it is clearly feminine.

Kate is very cute. Unfortunately Lue reminds me of the slang "loo." Anything associating with a restroom is probably best avoided

I'm not too worried about her being referred to as a toilet only because around where I live no one usually refers to it as a loo so I'm pretty safe in that reguard ... I think! Haha I have known a couple Mary Lou's and just aren't crazy about a double name .. I think Lou is used so much as a middle name sometimes it's refreshing to change it up

Aww I love Mary Lou, you could always use that as FN & MN (I also hate two first names) but then you can still always refer to her by both names.

I dont mind Lou (spelled this way) as a nn for Louise. I had a student who was named Pris.cilla Louise and went by Lou and it was really cute on her (she was 5). I think Lue alone is...too little.

Kate as a stand alone is fine to me.

I love Kate. It's my DD's middle name. Lue as a first name doesn't do it for me. It seems incomplete.
