Cooking makes me sick!

I usually excel in the kitchen but everytime I start to cook I get sick:( Hubby tries hard but he works full time and is renovating our house so we are on a constant diet of takeout or sandwiches! I feel bad that I'm not more helpful & I don't want to complain but I'm so sick of takeout!!!! What easy meals do you make to prevent sickness! Also, we eat all whole, fresh foods. Nothing processed. I'm wondering if it would be easier to get premade frozen dinners for the time being? Ughhhhh

Re: Cooking makes me sick!

  • I'm the same way! I love cooking, but lately not only do I have no appetite, but even walking through the kitchen makes me gag. There's some faint smell in there that is completely undetectable to my husband but just triggers it for me every time. I don't think I could be of any help to you, though, because all I've been able to eat lately is toast and crackers.
I usually look forward to Thanksgiving so much, but this year I'm really worried that I won't be able to help cook OR eat.... :(

  • My issue is meat, any uncooked form. So, if I need meat in the recipe (typically do), DH has to do that part and then I can finish the rest.

  • Same problem here, and I'm realizing how stinking difficult it is even to buy healthy takeout. I have been getting more frozen meals than usual, and the take-and-bake pasta dishes at our grocery store, so I have to spend very little time in the kitchen.

  • Cereal has been dinner of choice here : (. I usually love cooking, eating.
  • I haven't gotten sick cooking yet, but the few times I've used the crockpot, smelling that all day made me sick :(
  • same over here. husband has to deal with it or learn to cook. unless he wants to pick out vomit chunks from his food. i can't eat any meat i saw raw. and sometimes seeing it cook is enough to make me gag.
crock pot has been used more than ever.
  • All I do is whenever I actually feel like I could cook, I go BIG!! And freeze all of it.
My friends all came over for a baking party (not your typical 22 year old group lol) and that was awesome. Basically everyone claims something they wanna make, at the end when everything's done it all gets divided up :) my bf loves that party haha.
Green Giant steamers are AMAZING! The broccoli and cauliflower is cheese sauce is my hands down fave. Even the Brussel sprouts in a butter sauce are delicious !!
I hope you can over come this :) the crock pot is an amazing thing, if the smell doesn't bother you.
  • Lots of crock pot meals, frozen meals, left overs from family or take out around here. I normally love to cook and now it's the last thing I want to do.
  • The smell of sauteed vegetables does me in can't handle it. Lately take out is all we can get. I did make one batch of potato soup that was amazing but now can't eat anymore and freeZing it for winter. Tonight I have a Chinese smorgasbord in front of me because I didnt know what I could handle plus Chinese will give me some relief. Constipation sucks!

  • Not much help here. I'm living on ramen, crackers and grape juice. My husband has been forced to take the George Forman grill out to the deck since I can't stomach any cooking meat smell. Poor guy, out there in the snow
