I had a funny/helpful experience at Trader Joe's yesterday that I thought I would share. I was looking at the Luna bars to try to find something healthy to eat when nausea strikes (it seems to happen when i'm hungry and no where near food) I started to eavesdrop on the converstaion that a pregnant woman was having with an employee about coconut oil. She said that she used it on her belly from the first month of her last pregnancy and that she had no stretch marks. A few other women overheard and one chimed in that her daughter had the same experience. I immediatley threw some in my cart as did another woman who bought some for her daughter-in-law. We'll see. I don't think it can hurt!
Re: Coconut Oil for Stretch Marks
I'm curious as to why they only used it for the first month? Why wouldn't you keep using it?
I used Palmer's with my last PG and didn't get any stretch marks. As PP said it seems to be genetically linked. However I have several stretch marks from puberty and absolutely none from my PG. So that's my experience, feel free to take it with a grain of salt.
I've heard it may even just be the act of rubbing something on your skin that is helpful, because it increases blood flow and whatnot. Overall, I personally believe that using something is better than using nothing, but there's no miracle cure that always works, or else we'd all know about it by now.
I didn't do anything and didn't get any stretch marks. Thanks mom for the great genes!
But you are right coconut oil does smell amazing!
:O)
