101 fever

  I would say do whatever you are comfortable with...but when LO had a fever of 102 they told me to give her Tylenol to control it.  If it went for more than 3 days or got to/above 104 then bring her in immediately.  She had no other symptoms though...not sure if this is his only symptom.

  It is. He ate a normal dinner and drank a bottle before bed. He's not even fussy. I'm afraid to put him in his crib. I just want to hold him all night

  He sounds okay but I'm not a doctor.  Is there a nurses line you can call for piece of mind?  If so, it's there for a reason...don't be afraid to use it...even if it just for a little reassurance:)

  My LO had a temp of 101 on Tuesday, we called and brought her in that night just to be safe. Didn't find anything wrong. Then today she woke up covered in a rash, went back in and she had Roseola from the fever/virus she had.
  Do what you feel is right!!

  Oh wow. I'll definitely call if its not gone by morning. What is roseola? I hope she feels better!!!

  Wow I didn't realize it would be such a difference. I'm using the ear thermometer. When his fever was that high, was he acting any different? That's my only saving grace that LO is acting normal. Same appetite, no runny diapers, no fussy behaviors. I know people mentioned fevers with teething but would it be this high? We don't have any teeth yet but he's mouthing everything and drooling like crazy (but he has been for months).

  It's just a rash (that I guess is fairly common in children) that they get after having a fever..it's all a viral thing. Nothing serious!!

  If you are taking the temperature by ear and it is 101, then I would be worried that it is actually 103, based on my results.  Just make sure that you tell the doctor/nurse that you are using an ear thermometer and they will give advice accordingly.

  ETA:  Also, even if you cannot see any teeth, he could be teething.  Just massage LOs gums with your finger and see if you feel anything - you might not see any teeth just yet.  That is how I
  found out about T's teething.

  His fever keeps popping up and disappearing. He was fine all day but now he's very fussy. It's been 99-100 all day. The doctor said to keep an eye on his behavior and food/bottle intake. If he stops eating or is unusually fussy with a high temperature to bring him in. I'm sure this will happen in the middle of the night when I can't bring him anywhere. Fingers crossed for us tonight!! Thanks for asking!

  Hubby just gave him a teether and he calmed down completely. Could this be teeth??? Any suggestions to help us through the night??
