@cece2682 I didn't plan on weaning..someone mentioned to me about weaning the other day so I was just curious on others thoughts. Our house is creaky and she has become a lighter sleeper so I don't think I'd survive without white noise
We still use her sleep sheep for when she is falling asleep. It shuts itself off after 45min. I use it for naps too because her bedroom overlooks the parking lot. I have a noise machine for myself also! I can't sleep without it haha... unless I have a radio.
I still put a classical music CD on for my almost 3 year old... The way I see it, I cannot always fall asleep the second my head hits the pillow and I'll watch tv or something. I figure at least it gives him something to listen to and calms him down to get more in the mood for sleep. I let the CD play once thru and then it's done. We have a small space heater in our room (DD is in our room)and it gives off a nice humming noise.
Yea ill keep it as long as I can. Dh has developed this 2 cough habit every 30 min and it drives me crazy and would wake lo up! Can you beat a cough out of someone?? Lol
That cough thing sounds so irritating! My DH always coughs loud in the shower and it's so annoying at 5-6am in the morning! I swear he has a megaphone in there with him on some mornings.
I have no plans to wean. My 2 year old still uses her sound machine. She can get to slept without it, but sleeps better with it. We have 2 kids and 2 loud dogs and the sound machines create a buffer for all that noise! I see no reason to stop using them, especially since these days all you need is a smart phone and you can download a free white noise app anywhere!
We still use it even for our three year old. He can sleep without it, but it's just easier to block out noises. It doesn't bother me, I have no plans to break them of that if they are sleeping well.
Samesies. Ava sleeps with white noise to drown out Mila crying MOTN. Mila sleeps with it because she goes to bed at 6 and life happens after that
We use it at home. But on the days my aunt and MIL watch her, they don't. Like pp have said - if it helps drown out a dog bark or some other random noise, I see no need to stop.
Ava still uses her sleep giraffe. It turns itself off plus she likes playing with its legs before she falls asleep. It's really sweet! I'll use it till she doesn't want it anymore.
Yes - she uses her Sleep Sheep. Charlie still uses his too - same noise and everything for the past 3 years.
I don't understand the concept of weaning them off of a soothing mechanism. There are quirks that even adults "need" to sleep comfortably whether it be a soft bed, certain pillow, heavy blankets, the TV or music on, or even white noise. We all have our things - who cares if there's is white noise. :-)
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
Ya idk why they said to me "don't u think u should wean her off" I need noise to sleep myself..my husband gets mad because I use a fan all winter long..not because I'm hot..but because I like the noise!..I'm not gonna wean her this house dig and husband are way to noisey!
Re: white noise
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
