14 month old has his first cold and sounds like a Gremlin!

LO has had a bad cold for the past few days. saw the Dr. and she said it should go away.  no stuffy nose but fever (which seems to be going away) but he sounds soo phlegmy Pappa actually called him a gremlin this morning! We have tried the steam shower, vaporizer, baby vicks, honey and is now sleeping with a pillow. I don't really like the pillow idea I think he is too young yet... but it is helping him sleep! Any other suggestions? a friend suggested tea... do I make it normal strength like I would drink it or do I make it weaker?

    I run a humidifier all night for DS when he gets phlegmy.  Sometimes I'll add a couple drops of essential oil in it depending on how he sounds, too.  It definitely sounds worst in the morning after he's been lying down all night.  By the evening it's cleared up quite a bit.  We don't do much else unless he's waking in the night, and then we may sit in the bathroom for the extra steam.

    We prob her mattress with a pillow so she's elevated a little and we do vicks on her feet with socks.

    DD is going through this now- so snotty and congested. She sounds like a beast when she breathes.

    My daughter is just getting over her cold :( It's so hard to see them sick!
    Propping her up a bit at bedtime was so helpful, especially since that's when it's the worst. BabyVicks on feet with socks.

    Also, be aware of the coughing, my daughter had croup along with her cold. I had no idea what it was, thankfully the doctor was able to hear her cough and heard her inhale before we left or it would've gone unnoticed. Her cough wasn't quite there yet but her inhale was very obvious. It can be very dangerous. I would recommend searching on youTube so you know what to listen for! If you know all about it then disregard, just making sure :)
