Happy Friday! Plans for the weekend?

How did the week go for everyone? Hope it wasn't too bad! Are you looking forward to the weekend?

As usual, welcome to the new PAIF ladies! GL to those TTCing, and T&Ps to those who need them. Safe travels if you are going to be on the road.

What are your plans for this weekend? Anything exciting planned, or are you just going to relax and veg?

QOTW: Do you have a traditional T'giving menu (ie, same dishes year after year), or do you like to change it up? What's on the menu this year (if you know already)?

After a very busy weekend last weekend, I'm looking forward to nothing! Getting a much-needed haircut tomorrow, then will head to Tarjay for a little shopping. DH has promised to make lunch on Sunday (a-hem); will see what he comes up with! (I cook 100% of the time for every.single.meal. so I gave DH an option of either eating out or he cooks for Sunday lunch. He chose the latter.)

QOTW: We're hosting T'giving for the first time (we've always gone to ILs, but now they're coming to us). Traditionally, the menu has always been:

Turkey w/stuffing

braised Brussels sprouts with garlic & cream

root vegetables

2 pies (apple & pumpkin)

I hope to streamline it. First of all, there's only 5 of us (3 of them eat very little), so I don't see the need for all this food?!?! May do away the Brussels sprouts and replace it with something else. And I vote for getting rid of 1 of the 2 pies.

My plans for the weekend are to have a baby. Buttttttttt I don't think that is going to happen, so my back up is to treat myself to a prenatal massage on Saturday and then my mother in law is watching the kids so we can go look at some mini vans (LOL). Sunday we'll probably just clean and get stuff done around the house. Real exciting.

DH has a guy's night tomorrow night and will most likely be staying at a friend's house so he doesn't have to drive home. So DS and I are taking the 2 hour ride to my parents to hang out for the night. I hate being home alone! Plus, they haven't seen him in a few weeks. This is all if DS is feeling ok tomorrow.

QOTW: I hope to eventually be the one hosting Thanksgiving, but for now we switch off every year between my family and my IL's. My family does the big traditional thanksgiving every year - turkey, gravy, stuffing (2 ways), mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, turnips and more pies than we need. This year we're at the IL's and they do an Italian twist on Thanksgiving - turkey cutlets and lasagna. Definitely delicious, but weird to me!!

It is an "normal" weekend here in Canada. I am still at my in laws waiting for our furniture to arrive...which likely won't be for another 10days. I start my new job this week though so I am busy trying to get ready for that. This weekend there are some Christmas events like the Santa clause parade where my in laws live so I'm going to try to take LO to that. QOTW: we have a standard menu of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, carrots, turnip, and rolls and an apple pie or crisp.

Oh no @pb_bride. I'm only technically 36w3d HA. But baby has been measuring 3 weeks ahead so I'm ginormous and they told me he's probably about 7lbs already at my growth scan on Wednesday so I just want him out

Since I started taking Lupron my goal is to just make it through the day until LO goes to sleep. Even our usual Friday night Shabbat dinner is very abbreviated and I am not preparing a special meal like I usually do.

We don't have anything special planned except shopping for Hanukah gifts for family.

As far as Thanksgiving, my SMIL is a fabulous cook and she and FIL have been hosting the holiday forever. Since Hanukah is ridiculously early this year and starts the night before Thanksgiving there are latkes on this year's menu.

Happy Friday ladies.

Ugh - my weekend plans are way too up in the air.

Tonight DH and I are going out to dinner while my mom and stepdad babysit.

Tomorrow we're supposed to be going to a friends house for dinner.... Kind of torn. I think she said to bring M..... but it honestly seems more difficult than it may be worth. It's a 40 minute drive to her house.... If we keep M out past her bed time she tends to SCREAM in the car. while that's fine for a quick ride, the thought of a 40 minute ride home is daunting to me. Typically we'd do something like this at 4:00 to remedy the situation, but my friend doesnt have kids - so she doesn't get it. May leave M with my MIL just to make it all easier.

Sunday we have to go to a Bday celebration for DH's grandma. I do belive she's 97 now?

@kaf7 - so you've moved! How did it go? (Western Canada to EAstern Canada, is that right?)

@JBDamonM - Happy b-day to your DH's grandma! Ugh, I totally understand your dilemma regarding your friends' dinner invite. We have childless friends and they simply DO NOT get it. As a result, we haven't seen them for ages b/c we don't have anyone to babysit for us, and they simply REFUSE to meet us for lunch/brunch on the weekend ("daylight hours are too precious" for them, to be spent with us).

@saraevh, will you get induced before your actual due date? Continue to send you labor vibes!

I think I remember you talking about those friends. I mean, I know it's not intentional, but it's just going to be more trouble than anything tomorrow. That's why it's really much easier to leave her with MIL.

I've been hemming and hawing about this all week. I can't even remember if she initially told us to bring M or not! UGH.

This week was so long, I'm so glad it's over! No big plans for us, maybe see my parents if they decide to come down and cleaning the house.

QOTW: we have the same foods every year. Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese for the kids (and me and my adult cousins), stuffing, corn of some sort, green bean casserole, rolls, German chocolate cake, pecan pie, chocolate pie, and I'm sure there are other things I'm forgetting.

We are in San Diego for a much needed family get away. Whew! We made the drive in one piece. We splurged on hotels that we could get a suite so J could sleep and nap and we cold actually hang out.

For thanksgiving we do traditional stuff, though DH and I prefer ham to turkey. My favorite is candied sweet potatoes or veggies with my great-grandmothers ritz cracker and butter topping. An excellent way to make veggies not healthy. My mom makes a really yummy chocolate mousse pie with an Oreo crust.

@pb_bride yes! we have left our one house but we are not yet into the new one. Our stuff is likely to arrive on the 25th so in the meantime we are at my in laws. It is chaotic but ok. But I start work Monday 3h away. Yuck.

Little late, but I am working all weekend. So that's fun..

QOTW: Pretty much have standard things every year, I don't even know what our plans our yet this year, I should probably get on that!
