Hi ladies, I have a 12 year old son and I am looking for some cute ideas how to tell him I am pregnant. Any one have any ideas? I was thinking maybe a scavenger hunt, but still trying to nail down a plan...
For this baby I bought custom M&Ms in pink and blue and had messages on them, "boy or girl?" "baby last name #3" "Due in December" stuff like that. Our 11 year old daughter was happy about the candy but once she read them she looked at us and said, "Again?!" We have a 21 month old daughter as well.
You guys are way more creative than me LOL. For our last one (m/c at 10 weeks) we just sat the kids down and said, guess what?
We haven't told of this one yet (7w4d, having repeat ultrasound today for slighlty slow hb, if all is well then we are telling kids) so I'll have to get my creative juices going!
Yes, I am impressed with your energy level in telling. It is sweet though, just to much work for me! I just told 3 of mine together (the 13, 11, 10) yr old by saying to my youngest how would you like to NOT be the youngest in the family. He hugged me and patted my belly the other two gave me high-5's. I told my 15 yr old separately, he was embarassed! It was cute, he swallowed hard and turned red and said, really? I mean here is proof that his mom has sex! How awful for a 15yr old to have to acknowledge... Anyway I wish you well and hope you have a wonderful time telling them no matter how you do it!
DH and I told our kids at the dinner table, rather non-chalantly, just to see if oldest picked up on it. He'd noticed I'd quit drinking coffee, diet coke, etc, but I'd been telling him that I was trying to catch up on my New Year's resolution to take better care of myself. LOL... His face was RED because he just finished "health" class in 7th grade. He's more than thrilled, though, but I can tell he gets a little embarrassed sometimes when I'm chatting with other ladies and they mention some personal things and that's when he tries to plug his ears and say "WATERMELON WATERMELON!!!" He's bummed that there is so much of an age gap but I've explained to him I had no control over that, so he agrees that 13 years age gap is better than no little brother at all
I made t-shirts for our kids that said, "Big Brother x 3", "Big Sister x 2", and "I'm going to be a Big Sister!". I wrapped them up in Christmas wrapping paper and told them that we had an early Christmas gift for them (since I'm due around Christmas.) They all opened them at the same time, and it took them a few minutes to figure it all out. It was fun! They were all surprised and excited.
You could always do the Prego spaghetti sauce at dinner thing. It's done a lot on Facebook, but my fourteen-year-old daughter has always thought it's the best.way.ever.
I have an almost 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter. This baby was a TOTAL surprise!. My fiancee and I had onsies made for each. One said "I LOVE SPENCER" (my son's name), and the other, "I LOVE SYDNEY." They both needed a sec to figure it out , but then started laughing. Our baby Connor will wear them both with love!!!
We knew we couldn't keep our mouths shut around my 16 year old, so we told him a couple days after my BFP, with absolutely zero creativity. We are still shocked. His words were, "Well, I'm not exactly thrilled". He wasn't excited about his 2 year old sister either, but she adores him! Not only was DS an only child, but was the only kid until my sister had my nephew 8 years ago and still the only kid on his dad's side of the family. Um SPOILED doesn't even begin to cover it
Mom to a 16 year old boy too!!

Started taking Femaprin & Milk Thistle Aug '13, then added Metformin Sept '13......Surprise BFP 10/26/13!!!! The first time in 10 years that we got a BFP without infertility treatments!
MY SON IS 11 AND DAUGHTER IS 13, AND IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO TELL THEM..i was just sick, sick, sick, and just one day driving blurted it out talking on the phone..they were so happy
i have a 17 year old in college so i told her while dropping her off, and she said " really, like for true, like really mum wow, i never thought id ever hear you say those words to me again!" then a few days later she said, so that means you had sex?? lol i laughed. my 10 year old was very excited, i said guess what mom is having a baby he rolled on the floor and screamed, got up and said finally what took you so long i was only asking you like forever! and he says he hopes its a boy! good luck with telling the the good news
We just told out 10 and 7 year olds recently. I wrote 2 notes and had my son read it.
The first note said "Mama and Daddy have something fun to tell you...one guess each on what the surprise is going to be." Son blurted out "We are getting a new puppy" and daughter said "We are getting a new kitten."
Then my son read the second note which said "This coming summer, we are going to need a lot more help from you both with your new brother or sister...yep, Mama is going to have a baby!" It took a few seconds for the shock to set in but both were excited and both demanded the baby be a boy. We filmed everything and it is too cute.
