another toy question, anyone have these?

DS is 1 1/2 and I'm trying to find something to keep him busy.  He's so cranky at home lately and I think it might be that he's bored because when he's out he's fine or running around playing with us, but there is nothing that really keeps him busy (although it might be teething or something else because daycare teacher tells me some days he's cranky too.)  He loves balls and playing catch or kicking, sometimes he'll play trains, but usually only with us.  Grandma might get a train table.
I got a Fisher Price catalog today and was thinking about Crawl Around Car
or Disney Baby The Lion King Drop n' Roar

both are recommended for kids 6-36 months.  I usually feel like toy guidelines stretch the age recommendation too high, but DD is 3 1/2 and still likes little people, which I would have though she'd outgrown by now.  I think he seems a little old for these toys or that he'll out grow them soon, but I also feel like I could see him sitting and rolling the balls around for a while.  He has shape sorters that he does play with for a little while.  WDYT?

I also just found this giraffe.  It got good reviews on Amazon, so did the car

  • Personally, I hate Fisher Price toys.  All of them.

I highly recommend the Pewi Ybike Ride On Toy and Walking Buddy.  It doesn't look as flashy as FP, but my toddler loves it and both rides on and pushes it both inside and outside.  All 4 wheels rotate 360 degrees, and she quickly learned how to easily get on and off of it by herself.   She goes to this toy frequently, on her own.  And rarely does she go to the Fisher Price ride  on toy that she also has.

Do you have a shape sorter? Tolo Toys Rolling Shape Sorter is also a hit with DD.  Teaches her colors, each shape has it's own sound, in addition to teaching problem solving (sorting) and motor skills.

    Happy shopping!!

  • I second the Duplos, DD loves them at DHs work so we're getting her her own for Christmas. I played with Duplos til I was real old like 8 so they'll definitely last. And lots of imagination needed :)
