I am so upset and depressed, but so frustrated because a part of me just wants this to be over so that I can have some closure and my miscarriage hasn't even started yet. They told me yesterday they expected it to start very soon because there was already bleeding around the sac, but still nothing. I called the nurse on call to ask for the Cyotec (sp?) and I want to hear stories from people that have used it. Would you recommend it versus natural or not? My midwife didn't give me the option of a d&c, but at this point would have been the much more preferable option for me so I am stuck with the options of natural or Cyotec and I hate the thought of having to wait who knows how long it will take to start and then possibly a week or more of pain and passing everything. I am also terrified of the intense pain that I have heard can come with the Cytotec. Is the pain really worse because I've heard natural can be extremely painful as well? Please, anyone willing to share it would be appreciated.

Re: Please give me Cytotec stories
I'm so sorry you are going through this. In the end I opted for Cytotec so we could try again quicker, but initially wanted a D&C because I was also terrified by the stories I read on-line. I had no spotting or bleeding up to that point. My doctor gave my the Ctyotec, 800 mg Motrin, and Percocet. While it was a miserable experience, I was expecting way worse based on what I ready. Also the bleeding wasn't so heavy - I was 9 weeks when I took it but growth stopped at 6 weeks 1 day. I think the size of the fetal pole and how far you are along probably has an impact on the bleeding and even the pain.
DH and I took off Thursday and Friday 11/7 and 11/8 so he could be with me and we could be done with it by the weekend. Took it 8:30 am - a half hour later I had one episode of chills and my finger tips went numb (so strange) and then nothing until about 1:00 pm - I started to have spotting and mild cramps. I took the Motrin at this point. Cramps picked up of the course of the next several hours as did the bleeding. I would say around 4:00 pm the cramping intensified - equal to what my worst menstrual cramping is (I can get bad cramps) so I took the Percocet because I read advice not to wait until it got too bad. It was the worst between 7:00 and 9:00 pm. I could feet contractions, mild back ache, and cramps through the Percocet and Motrin, I used a heating pad to help (and it did). I'm assuming the pain would have been much worse without the Percocet so ask for it. However, I've experienced labor and I don't think the cramping even came close to what I experienced in early labor. As far as the bleeding, it wasn't horrible either. I wasn't soaking pads. I didn't feel the need to push anything. When I did go to the bathroom, it would be filled with blood (sorry TMI but there's no way around it for these stories) and some clots, but nothing huge. I've read about golf ball sized clots and tissue, I didn't have that. Friday the bleeding was like my period, same thing with Sat and Sunday. I had one episode of cramping, nothing that required meds, on each of those days where the bleeding picked-up a little, some clots, but not too bad. By Monday I was just spotting. I actually didn't think it worked because I was expecting a much worse experience. I had my ultrasound on Wednesday and it all passed. I think with this drug, all experiences are different. I prepared for the worst, hoped for the best. It wasn't that bad all things considered. Like I said, I recommend the pain meds, having a heating pad handy, making sure somebody is with you the whole time just in-case, and super pads. I took 3 of the Motrin 8 hours apart and one Percocet and then another 6 hours later. That's all I needed and honestly I probably didn't need the second Percocet - took it more as a precaution because I was expecting a level of pain that never came. Good luck in whatever you decided!
I opted for cytotec as it seemed a bit more natural. The baby only measured 6 weeks so my dr didn't think it would be a problem. On the evening of 11/7 I took three ru-48 pills in my dr office. On the evening of 11/8 I took one Vicodin and then an hour later I insterted 4 misoprostol tabs in my cheeks and waited for then to dissolve. That night I experienced some major cramping. About 6 hours later I finally bled some but no clots.
I spoke with the dr on call on sat who suggested I take another round of pills. Sat night I took 2 misoprostol pills, since the pharmacy screwed up and only gave me 2/4. That night I had minimal cramping but passed many clots.
On 11/13 my dr did an ultrasound and discovered not everything passed. So I took the pills again 11/14. This time no cramping or bleeding.
11/14 I had my betas checked and my dr said they are still higher than she wants. tonight I will take another 4 pills, but this time I'll take them vaginally instead of orally.
I am scheduled for a us tomorrow afternoon. If there is anything left my dr will do the procedure in her office.
