Trying to Get Pregnant

Pregnancy after Paragard

Hi Everyone-

Next month I will be getting my paragard IUD removed after having it for 5 years. My husband and I would like to be pregnant by April 2014. I was wondering if anyone had any difficulties getting pregnant after IUD removal? I've read that it thins your uterine wall, so that makes me nervous that I may miscarry. I am 23 years old (24 in January), fairly healthy, and have no children yet. Any insight would be much appreciated as I'm very nervous to start down this path.

Re: Pregnancy after Paragard

  • I got pregnant a couple months after my Mirena was removed and lost the baby a couple weeks later (I didn't relate that to previously having my IUD).

Like PP said, you can have a goal of sorts for trying to be pregnant, but it can take up to a year for a healthy couple with good timing to get pregnant. If you want to maximize your chances each month I would look into the fertility friend web site and the book Taking charge of your fertility. Both are great resources as is this board.
