Let's Talk Separation Anxiety

My LO just figured out how to crawl and her separation anxiety is at its peak. I can't even walk out of her sight for a second, it is that bad, frustrating, and annoying. At times, she can't even have her back to me, it is that bad. I know that this will pass (my first one had it as well and is now one of the most independent children on the planet), but it doesn't make this period any easier.

Anyone else have a Klingon? If so, what are you doing to ease your baby's fears.

  • Yep!! We have also gone into playing extreme peek-a-boo. I have DH hold her and make sure she can still see me and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I also make sure I respond to her quickly when she wakes from naps or bedtime so she knows I'll always come and so she doesn't have to worry long.

  • I have the same imaginary line!  We also have an open plan with the living room/dining room/kitchen, but the second I get over the "line" to the kitchen she acts like I'm leaving forever... and forget going to the bathroom, she has to come with me.  And like pp mentioned, it's worse on weeknights after I have been gone all day.  Not as bad on the weekends.  I don't have any tips but if anyone does I'm listening =)
  • No advice....same here!!!
  • LO goes through moments. At times, he is fine playing with DH or keeping himself occupied. Other days, I can't even step away or put him down. Now that's he crawling, if I walk away, he will crawl after me. It's pretty cute though. The days that he's attached to me though, I just pick him up and carry him with me. He will scream otherwise. No advice here, just sympathy!
