im sure everyone else did this when LO was an infant, but we took out the bumper and put the breathable in, but now that he is 18 months, can I put it back i?
I'm thinking it will keep the heat in his crib some through out the winter..
We did no bumper until baby got to phase of rolling and flailing around and kept getting his arms stuck in the rungs, and then we borrowed a nice soft non-breathable (shocking, I know!) bumper and have had it in there ever since. So far we are alive and well.
16 month old tried to climb up the cribs sides so I wouldn't want a bumber in there that she could stand on. Though I suppose the breathable ones are quite collapsable. I did use a breathable bumper for a couple mmonth when she went through the phase of getting stuck between bars. It was a lifesaver.
We put a regular bumper in on two sides before a year. It was to keep paci from falling out on the wall sides. I was tired of moving the crib to retrieve them. We still have it in there. I figure if the pediatrician said we could have blankets then a bumper is fine.
I fee l like a teeeible parent as I have has bumpers (old fashioned kind) in the crib since lo was born. She thrashes around so much and has never obe tries to climb them. Though well be taking them out soon I imagine sine we are going to try a toddlee bed in the spring.

As long as LO isn't a climber.
He is in general but has never tried to climb in his crib. In our case, we only have them on the sides next to the walls so he couldn't use them to climb out.

This. except I don't feel like a terrible parent at all. DD has always had regular old bumpers in her crib, and still does. it works for us. But DD is only 9.5 months (were just visiting this board) We'll take them out when she starts to climb.
DS has regular bumpers in now that he is older and stronger. He does occasionally stand on them, but they don't make him tall enough to climb out. He really likes snuggling up to them. The covers are a really soft micro plush material.
We don't have any bumpers in her crib since she learned to stand. She was trying to use them as a step to climb out. I still wouldn't be comfortable with them, just because she could fall and get hurt.
