Butt rash even though potty trained?

Hi I usually post on blended families but was hoping someone over here might be able to help me.  LO is almost 3 and has been potty trained since july-ish.  She still wears a diaper to sleep most of the time but only wakes up wet maybe once a week if that.  But she still keeps getting an awful red rash on her butt.  She had something similar a year ago and they said it was a yeast infection which ended up being wrong and it was actually bacterial and antibiotics cleared it up.  She doesn't say it hurts or itchs or anything like that and it is mostly the upper half of her butt.  She has a drs well visit the end of the month so we will bring it up then, but with our luck it will clear up right before and come back after.  Anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?  Thanks

  • Have you tried putting desitin on her when in her diaper?  My daughter is also potty trained but wears a pull up at night. If I don't put desitin on her she gets a rash.

  • My DD is potty trained but still sometimes gets redness down there also.  If after bath time I notice she looks red I put some diaper cream on before her diaper.  Or even aquaphor.  And she is usually fine by morning.
  • This may sounds odd and random, but it's the only thing I've seen on my kid since he PT'd.
Could it be heat rash? Sound odd, but DS would get heat rash around the top where the elastic on his underwear are when it was warm at night or he would layer up with too many blankets at night.
