K'tan?

So I have the moby wrap and while I like how it holds LO and how it works, I hate wrestling with a mile of fabric everytime I use it. Is the k'tan the same way or is it all ready to wear without all the wrapping?

Re: K'tan?

  • From what I hear the k'tan is simpler. I'll be following this thread. I've been getting mad at my moby recently. She wants to be carried facing out, but for some stupid reason the wrap keeps drooping and she ends up at my crotch. No idea what I'm doing wrong.

  • The Ktan is two loops held together with a piece of fabric. It's basically the moby without the hassle. It has less hold options, but is super easy. Literally put the two loops over your body, put baby to chest, bring one loop up across shoulder then bring other loop up across shoulder. Tada!

Can I thread jack a little? How long can LO be worn in either the Moby or Ktan? I'm going to my SILs baby shower Sunday, and don't want any baby passing so I want to pick up a carrier tonight when I'm at BRU.
As far as I know, as long as they will tolerate it. I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and she slept through most of it in the moby (3.5 hours). I took her out to change her and give her a good stretch before putting her back in to go home.

Thanks @Zever000, that's great information. However, I was asking how long regarding age, I've been researching though and found my answer :) 35 lbs!

Oops! Sorry @petey1106! Totally misunderstood. Glad you found your info though. :\">

@petey1106 It goes up to 35 lbs. I have heard though that it isn't too comfortable past about 15-20 lbs.

  • Hmm....wonder if I should ask for it for Xmas..
I did successfully go shopping with him in the moby today. And now I'm sitting in a dressing room feeding him...haha

  • I love my ktan! We have the moby too but I never use it. I made the switch b/c I hated how long it took to wrap the moby AND b/c I was paranoid about having to retie the wrap in public and having it dangle on the ground.
LO is 16 lbs and I can wear him for 2-3 hours no problem.

  • I like the Ktan. I have the breeze, because it's lighter weight and it's warm here.

The Ktan is most useful to me for around the house or quick shopping trips. If it's going to be more than an hour of baby wearing, I prefer the Ergo.

The Ktan hurts my back after a while. I agree with @MommyAmes2 that it wouldn't be very comfortable after LO reaches 20 lbs.

  • I have the breeze k'tan and LO is about 15lbs. So far I have liked it and it seems comfy for LO.
