Bored with toys/ gear

Do you guys think at this age these babies could be bored with their toys/ gear yet? I'm completely bored with them and wonder if Ben might be feeling the same way. I'm at home with him all day and we basically rotate between the bouncer (with toy bar), the jumper, the floor with a handful of toys, reading, and the summer infant chair with toy tray. I feel like we do the same damn things ALLLLL day everyday. I do typically get him out every day but he's been sick and the weather has been cold and wet lately so that's not happening as much. What do y'all think? Just my boredom or could he be bored with them too?

Re: Bored with toys/ gear

  • I don't think so. Their minds are still discovering new things daily. DD still acts surprised when she looks at her left hand. She's all "Hey! It's attached!" every few hours.

Lol! Yeah, you're right. I must be over thinking this bc of my own boredom.

  • I've been thinking the same thing!! It must be me though. Although ds doesn't love the kick piano or bouncy chair as much as he used to. We are using the exersaucer and bumbo with toys more

Yep-Ben is pretty over the piano mat as well. Now he just wants to chew on the toys. I usually take the elephant off and put it on the jumper because he loves gnawing on that ball.

  • For some reason toys coming home from grandma's house (DH's parents) are getting destroyed. They watch her during the day and I bag up some of her things because they won't buy her anything for their house and I've thrown away a stuffed toy because it got a hole in it and I didn't want LO eating toy stuffing.  And a few others have just gone missing. I'm buying new toys because we can't seem to keep any.  That is very frustrating...
  • @babymillerommy lol exactly like that in our house too!! He doesn't care to kick, he just wants the toys in his mouth.

Too funny. Well at least it's the toy that keeps on giving, right? ;-)

    .

What is going on at grandma and grandpa's house?! LO must be partying like a rock star over there!

  • I have noticed Parker isn't enjoying his toys as much as he used to. He doesn't like the piano mat anymore and when he is in the jumparoo he starts fussing after about 20 minutes. It makes it harder to get things done around the house! The other day I bought him the Fisher Price laugh and learn puppy and he seems to really like it! Lately we spend a lot of time playing on the floor with toys since he likes to sit up now so I'm thinking about buying him a learning table for Christmas.

That is exactly what I'm thinking.
  • I feel the same way, but I do think LO gets legitamitely bored now and then. Like she will be sitting in her exersaucer for awhile, playing, then she stops and just stares into space... but if I play with her she gets happy again.

  • I flipped the piano part from the piano mat the other day and had her sit up (with help) to play it.  She loved that!

I was just telling my husband how bored I would be only being five months old. Can't do the whole hand eye coordination thing, sit up on my own, talk, walk. I'd be bored to tears I think.
  • I had the same thought today. I keep trying to invent new things to do with the same toys (hanging them on swing, clipping them on jumper, putting them on high chair tray). I'm also always trying to rotate out the toys, which is dumb. I keep thinking if she hasn't seen it in a few days it will be like a new toy!

  • I'm definitely bored with LO's toys but he seems to find a new favorite among them every couple of days.  I'm also hoping he'll fall in love with the piano mat all over again once he can sit up on his own and use his hands.
