Changing LO in the Ladies Room...

DH & I have yet to take LO out anywhere else other than the grocery store or for take away food, so we haven't had our 1st public diaper change yet. My question to those of you who've taken your LO out, any words of advice/tips/tricks to make diaper changes in the ladies room easier (other than to use those plastic changing stations that flip down from the wall)? Maybe I'm just making a bigger deal out of this than need be...just nervous about how to juggle holding her while reaching for diapers/wipes/changing pad, etc. Hope this question makes sense & isn't totally inane.

I've changed him in the car if there's no changing station, NBD. Try to get all of your stuff out and ready before you change him; changing pad, wipes, diaper. It's really not as hard as you're thinking it is!

I would definitely use your changing pad on the plastic changing station... that thing is gross. A lot of them have a disposable paper liner, but sometimes they're all gone. I wear my diaper bag like a messenger bag and don't take it off so I can grab something easily (like an outfit if we have a blow out). It really is not that bad.

OP, it really isn't that difficult to do. You'll see. If a changing station isn't available I go to my car or just change him quickly wherever I can find a clean, flat surface.

I always have my portable changing pad and put that on the table. Just get all you need set up first before taking the diaper off. It's not that bad

I wipe down the changing station and still use my plasticy changing pad. Those tables are disgusting. I get everything out ahead of time -- diapers, wipes.

It's not too hard it can just be awkward where they place them. I've run across some that are really high which are a pain in the butt. Most of them have a hook thing that you can put your bag on. And I've done plenty of kneeling on floor changes too. As long as you have your own pad it's not bad. I also leave a ziplock bag in my diaper bag. Good for blowout clothes or poop diapers after a car change.

I put everything out on the table first, open up my diaper, open the wipes case, lay baby down, change and bam! All done.

If there's no changing table I'll run to my car. But if I'm going to take long I usually do a "sniff" test before I leave the car.

Same advice as PPs and I always take LO to the bathroom in her stroller/car seat deal which makes it easier to wash my own hands afterwards. It's a lot easier to get everything ready before hand, also, when she's just sitting in her car seat.

This! I have all my stuff out before I start undressing LO. She hates being naked so I try to make that time as short as possible. Also, both times I have had to change her she has had big poops so if you have the scented baggies make sure to have one handy!

If we are out and about I change In the car now unless we're say at someone's we know. LO had a toxic reaction when we were changing him in a bathroom. No contact with anything just the fumes from cleaning and they weren't strong the bathroom just smelled clean so I'm a little paranoid now about changing him anywhere I don't know what they clean with

Eh, not a big deal at all. The changing table is when it's easy! Wait until you go somewhere and there is no changing table. I've changed DS in the back of an airplane on the floor. You just do what you gotta do!

I've changed her in the car, on the sidewalk, on a park bench, in my lap. Just use your changing pad. You'll be fine. It gets easier every time

It's really not that bad. I've changed in the car and just about everywhere else. In restaurants I just grab LO, wipes, diaper and pad. I don't even bother with the bag. If at all possible have everything ready to go before you lay LO down. You'll be fine!

I like to carry these with me. I don't even like putting my changing pad on those diaper changers. So I put them under the pad if I'm in a really icky place. Plus they are just nice to have around. And of course antibacterial wet ones for a quick swipe. Using one of LOs wipes on it will do nothing but swirl around the germs.

I have everything I need for diaper changing in the skip hop diaper pouch. I take it out of the bag and place on the changing table. I went to target and the changing table was so high!

I've also placed the pad on my lap and changed him in he car.

This. I also have changed her in her stroller with it laid all the way back.

With DD1, I changed her while in her car seat on an airplane - no one even noticed.

(Awww crap. Crossing my fingers this doesn't restart the flying with baby thing.)

Puppy pads & Velcro.

I put a puppy pad down and roll out my Velcro semi-tight around the table. Many of the straps are broken where I've been.

Also, go to the restroom yourself BEFORE you take LO out of the stroller/carrier. Once you get them out they will most likely freak & you will forget.

Get everything out before you set LO on the changing table, floor, car, whatever..

I am still not used to it and feel awkward when changing him in public. But I figured I was okay when I laid him down on the mat, on somebody's floor, in the middle of a house party. haha.

I get angry though when bathrooms (men and women) don't have changing tables. It makes it so inconvenient for everyone with babies/tots.

I absolutely love the Panda Express (I know it's not REAL Chinese food, but I love it!). down the street from me. But I haven't ate there in over 2 years because the first time we went with DS1 we found out they didn't have a changing table.

It's no big deal. Just make sure the changing pad, wipes, and diapers are easily accessible. Bring some hand sanitizer if you won't have anywhere to put LO after you change her. DS hates hates hates not being held so I'm not able to wash my hands at the sink and have to rely on hand sanitizer after his his diaper changes when we're out.

One of my biggest pet peeves. We went to dinner at the melting pot last night and even though there was a big blank walk in the stall, no table! Really annoying. I also hate when they don't have them in both the women's and men's. So when DH is out with the kids he has very limited option and I find it very discriminatory against dads in general.
