Nanny Question

I saw on a previous post that some of you are paying around $370 per week for your nanny.  I know it depends on where you live, but I was wondering is that for 40 hours and how many kids?  We are thinking of going the nanny route after our 3rd child is born next year.  My son would be in full-day kindergarten and my daughter in part-time preschool (3 days a week for 3 hours).

Also, does anyone have a nanny that goes part-time in the summer?  My husband is a teacher and we have previously only used our daycare 2 days a week in the summer and would like to continue that with a nanny although I am sure that would be difficult to work out.

Any nanny advice would be appreciated!  Thanks.

Re: Nanny Question

  • We pay $420 a week and that's for 55 hours and 1 kid.  She's F/T all year.

  • I would think anything under $500 a week would be super reasonable- especially for full time- that is less than $12.50 per hour, which I would think is pretty low, but I am sure it depends on the location as well.
