High Intensity Workout

What is the definition of high intensity?

Trying to track activity points on WW and want to make sure I am doing it right.

I did 30 minutes on a new type of elliptical. HR 170 plus basically the whole time (down from 180 a couple weeks ago doing the same thing) and the machine said 330 calories burned. Is that considered high intensity?

I just used you for google.

Re: High Intensity Workout

  • So what I did was not? It gives me the option of high intensity elliptical and moderate elliptical.

  • This is how I think of it:

High Intensity = you thought you might die at the end and you REALLY pushed yourself.

Moderate Intensity = You just worked hard and got a good workout. You're tired but you could have kept going.

You have to be honest with yourself. Sometimes I like to think I just did a high intensity workout when in reality I am just out of shape and tired.

  • So then probably moderate. I definitely pushed myself it wasn't easy but I guess I could have definitely done more or harder.
  • I always mark moderate to be on the safe side. You'd be sprinting or something to be considered high intensity. Way to go!

  • I think it is supossed to be based on if you can talk during the workout and how long it took you go start sweating.  I always used light or moderate, unless it was a 50minute spin class.  Good job on bringing down the active hr!

  • I think moderate is a good maker for an elliptical. If you are doing sprints, intervals, circuits, etc., then I would say high, otherwise, you are probably in the moderate range.

Ha no. For now I am trying to not die. Today was the first day that my chest didn't hurt the rest of the day and I was able to move the rest of the day and not ache everywhere.

That's awesome! Make sure you are active tomorrow - walking, cleaning, whatever. I usually hurt the most 2 days after my workouts. I know it is time to go harder or change it up when it stops hurting.
