I'm currently waiting for my pedi to call me back so thought I'd ask what you guys thought of whats going on with my daughter....She is just now 6 months old as of yesterday, She normally eats about 5 oz every 4 hours of formula, she gets oatmeal mixed with a fruit in the morning, and then mixed with a veggie at night...she gets 2 oz of apple juice or prune juice once to twice a day (we struggle with constipation) So tuesday night she randomly vomited in her crib overnight...i happened to hear her stirring around 2am via the monitor so i went into nursery to check on her went to grab her to place her on her back and stuck my hand right into the pile of vomit she  had....it was clearly vomit, it was everywhere and she had already rolled around in it....FUN. since then she has not been taking her bottles well, she fusses and turns it away after about 3-4 oz which is not like her at all...she normally is a chow hound and freaks even seeing her bottle getting made. She has also had a few poopy diapers that seem a little more like diarrhea which is also unlike her since she normally only goes every 2-3 days...past 2 days in a row she had like 2-3 poopy weird diapers...then last night after her 2am feeding she seemed restless and uncomfortable so again i went into check on her picked her up to rock her and she puked all over me ....other then all of this she seems perfectly fine, not acting ill, no more fussy then her normal self and no temp....the only thing I can think of that has changed is that I switched from rice cereal to the oatmeal cereal....but that has to of been about 2 weeks ago at least??? Could that be affecting her now? I have a hard time believing its that because shes only vomited randomly the 2 times? All her purees are the same....thoughts????

  • What brand of purees?  There is a recall on the Plum organics right now.  Could it be that?

  • I dont use that brand, Triage at the pedi office called and said as long as she is taking some sort of feeding and shes hydrated its probally a little stomach bug and there is nothing they can really do for that its got to run its course, she said I could add in a little pedialyte...so I guess we will wait and see for now.

  • Hi, I don't normally post on this board, but thought I would throw in my 2 cents since we went through something similar last week.

Starting last weekend, my daughter (almost 8 months) would only take about 4-5 ounces of a bottle, and then start turning her head away.  No other symptoms, and she acted fine otherwise. I just figured that maybe she was having a dip in her appetite. I got a call from daycare on Tuesday that she had taken half of her bottle at lunchtime and then vomited it all back up.  I picked her up that day, and she was fine the rest of that day and most of Wednesday.  She was able to drink normal amounts of formula, no fever, no unusual diapers, and was her normal self. However, by Wednesday evening, I thought she was over the bug, and gave her applesauce at dinner time.  She had a bottle about an hour later, and promptly threw it all back up.  She did this one additional time.  We took her to the pedi, and they said it was probably just a stomach bug, and that solid foods (purees) may cause more stomach irritation than just formula.  That would explain why she only vomited after eating both solids and formula.  We laid off solids for a full 24 hours, and then re-introduced them, slowly, and she has been better.

Hope your little one feels better soon.  And sorry you got puked on - I know it comes with the territory, but it is still gross!
