WWYD--Not Super Serious

We have kept the baby's name a secret IRL, which I'm really impressed that we've managed to do since we call her by her name at home.  I've shared it on here before, it's Mia Hope :-)  A few weeks ago I posted about getting a gift for the grandparents with her name on it and we decided on these really cute personalized burnt wood ornaments we found on Etsy.  They arrived in the mail yesterday and now I'm crazy excited.  I'm that person who buys an xmas gift 2 months early, and can't keep my mouth shut.  Our parents all live 3+ hours away and there is a chance (for lots of variables--snow being one of them) that they won't be the first people to visit us in the hospital but we thought it would be nice for them to be the first people we share the name with.  Would you still wait until after she's born and if other people know first they do, or should we mail the ornaments?

    I agree. I know my Mom would be so upset if someone else knew the name before her. She wouldn't be mean about it, but it would hurt her feelings. As long as you think they will be nice about the name (it's beautiful, but we all know how family gets with their unwanted opionions sometimes), then I say share now. And keep in mind that once you tell them, aunts and uncles and cousins and whoever else may find out bc they are too excited to not share.

    This is what I was thinking, I think I just wanted someone else to say that it was a good idea!  @Sing2phins, I may actually steal what you wrote and write it in the card!  @AnsbyGamber I think they'll be nice about the name and I'm not really expecting them to keep it a secret.  We tried that when we first told them I was pregnant and it didn't go well --so now I think I have more realistic expectations :-)

    What if you ship it to them but ask them not to open it until LO arrives? Or I assume since you'll be calling them after the birth they'll be some of the first to know the name then and you can wait to mail the ornaments if you want them to be Christmas gifts.

    Oh my gosh! I love the ornament! So perfect, I'm going to convince DH that I'm buying one or a few!. :D as for your question. I like PPs idea of shipping them early but saying, don't open until we call and say LO is here. I think that's a cute idea. And I totally get not being patient with gift giving. I am the worst about that! I get so excited and can't wait to see the looks on people's faces that I drive myself crazy!

    I think they're cute and super cheap.  It was $20.69 for three of them with shipping!
