I thought this would be a fun question!
I'm a Disney dork. That's where DH and I got engaged, and I drink out of a cup with Disney princesses on it. I put on the Disney Pandora radio station "for DS" and sing along.
Also, I am a karaoke junkie. DH and I had a karaoke hour at our wedding and we sang a duet to Love Shack by The B-52s.
Re: How are you nerdy, quirky, dorky? (GTKY)
First round of Clomid in May 2012= BFP #1, DD born January 2013
BFP #2 in January 2014, DS born September 2014
I am a big Broadway junkie. I haven't kept up with new stuff lately, but I have entire librettos memorized. Specifically, I've seen Rent WAY too many times.
I got a degree in literature (in addition to my "real" major of business administration/marketing) just for funsies. And got a 4.00 GPA in that major.
I've braved a freaking blizzard to see Neil deGrasse Tyson speak.
When I was pregnant with DD, DH and I would solve Punnett squares to try to figure out what she'd look like.
Even though I made fun of DH when he started watching Doctor Who, I got completely sucked in, and it's why our daughter's name is Amelia.
Geek cred by association: DH is an editor for a geek news website, and my ex-boyfriend from college (DH and I are both still good friends with him, he was in our wedding and DH is going to be in his. What? It's not weird, I swear!) is a somewhat prominent geek culture figure in Philly. I don't really have a physical "type" (DH and the ex look nothing alike) but clearly my "type" is geek.
Oh yeah, and DH and I (and DD!) did an interview for the web series for The Geek's Guide to Dating (a Quirk books title that's being released later this year). DD wore a TARDIS skirt for the interview. It's not up yet, but I'll totally post the link when it is. Then you all can see DD making fart noises into my hand. Quality stuff. :-P
I LOVE musicals!
Gonna make you a little more jealous now:
That's a signed copy of The Pluto Files I'm holding. ;-)
L-)
The Golden Girls rock! The theme song just may be on my ipod. ;-)
I've tried the Disney station on pandora but it always makes me cry. Any Phil Collins but mostly "You'll Be in My Heart" to be more specific.
I'm also a major loner and could go days without talking to another person. I enjoy being "one" with nature and go out in the woods and just sit and listen to the wind and the leaves and all the life that's going on around me. I talk to the birds and squirrels and bugs and myself. Writing that out sounds super weird. Maybe that's why I don't have many friends. Haha.
I love science fiction and fantasy novels.
A Very Potter Musical anyone?
I love movies and am a complete movie geek, but I prefer the classics and can tell you way too much about the lives of golden and silver age movie stars.
I keep an agenda.
I can't dance but I will anyway.
Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Battlestar Gallactica, Farscape, Dollhouse and Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathons anyone?
I was a rennie as a cast member and as a vender of handmade corsets.
I freakin love math!
I've been to the San Diego Comic Con 3 times since 1996. I wish I could afford to go more but it's 2,000 miles away... Nashville has a comic con but i've been once and it hasn't gotten good yet, it's still young so I'll go back and check it out again soon.
I quote MST3K, Ghostbusters and the Dark Crystal on a daily basis. Quoting is super dorky.
I love so-bad-that-they-are-good movies. We used to host a bad movie night at our house before we moved.
I used to love playing RPGs once upon a time, specifically the Final Fantasy series.
I regularly quote from The Lion King and from movies in general. Picked that up from my nerdy movie buff DH.
I'm an accountant, so definitely add me to the spreadsheet lover list. I have my whole life in spreadsheets. My hospital packing list was a color coded spreadsheet.
I have an extensive collection of toe socks.
I like cookies.
I've watched every episode of new Doctor Who (I'm actually watching it now...).
RENT is my FAVORITE. I have it memorized! I also love Disney movies!
I love Harry Potter, but I refused to read the books before the final movie was put out. I didn't want to go into the movie with any preconceived ideas of what they would put in and what they would take out. I went to see move 5 with one of my cousins who was a MAJOR HP buff, and she sat through the entire movie whispering, "That's not right!" and "That's not how that's supposed to happen! They changed it!" If I hadn't seen the movie before going with her, she would have ruined the experience.
@MetrosPhoenix Did you post a pic of your nursery before LOs were born? I remember seeing someone's HP Nursery, but I can't remember where I saw it, if it was on this Board or just in my nursery design web searches.
Eta-I've seen then on Pinterest, but mine was gender neutral because I started it before we found out boy or girl so there's a lot of green. I was going to do all Ravenclaw, but I didn't like the idea of blue in her room.
I know all the words to all the classic Disney movies. I also watch "Anastasia" because DD likes it...or so I tell myself.
I love to read. Between myself and DH we have four bookshelves filled with books. When I was pg with DD, I finished the entire Hunger Games trilogy in three days.
I love musicals - Rent is by far my favorite. I actually just saw a community theater production of it, and I totally found a sitter for DD so I could go watch it and have two hours to myself

If anyone watches Americas got talent, my persona is somewhat like Taylor Williamson. But definately on accident haha. And people usually don't laugh at that stuff when I say it lmao so a nerdy nervous snort filled laugh usually emerges.
Other than that I can't really say I'm too nerdy. I mean ya I love musicals, but I actually don't feel like that's nerdy lol
