  I like Sam or Oliver. Our boy name will be Samuel.

  i know a little oscar and i just don't like the name on a kid.  i know it's retro-cool and whatnot, but i'm just not a fan.

  
  

  porter feels like you're trying too hard.

  
  

  sam is reasonably cute, but i am not a fan of the longer versions of the name.

  
  

  oliver is popular but classy.  plus, ollie is a great nickname.

  Thanks I like the break down. Sam and Oliver our my choices. My husband likes the other two. But still considering others. Hopefully this will give me some leverage in decision

  I like Oliver, it is super popular right now, so as long as that doesn't bother you.
  
  Sam is fine, but I would much rather it be Samuel or a more "grown up" name.

  My ex who I dated for 7 years who never felt the need to introduce me to the family and ultimately cheated on me was Sam. That's pretty jerky

  I knew a jerky Sam too, in high school. But his real name was Hamilton, no one knew why he went by Sam (including my fiend who dated him for a year). So off topic, but your comments reminded me of him for the first time in ten years

  Out of the bunch, I like "Sam" (other than choosing none).

  I see how popular Oliver is on TB (and this board) but I absolutely hate it for a kids name... because its my dogs name.  But I cant completely stand by that thought process because lots of dogs have people names instead of Sparkles or Fido.  Anyway, I digress.

  Porter! It's our name too..
  It's a PORTland thing when it comes to meaning. DH and I aren't from here but met here as are having him here but with DH job we will most likely be moving in the next few years.
