DH and I have been married 7 years and I have two boys, 3 and 9 months.

4) What's your favorite thing about being a WM? Being able to provide my family with financial security is pretty important. And the boys are absolutly thriving in daycare, so it's a win win.
5) If you could give one tip to a new WM, what would it be? Use your dishwasher- a lot!
6) Are you traveling for the holidays this year or staying home? Thankfully, we get to stay local over both holidays. I'm hosting Thanksgiving, and then we go to my parents house for Christmas, which is only about 45 mins away.

8) Any holiday traditions you want to share?? This year I'm hoping to start a new Thanksgiving Tradition by running our families first annual Turkey trot. I hope to continue this tradition every year.
For Christmas, every year we do the Salvation Army Angel tree at work. I select a child, and now Children, the same age as my children and hopefully one day, my boys will be able to start selecting gifts for the children themselves. Hopefully DS1 will be more involved this year!
9) What's on your Christmas Wish list this year? Perfume, a new travel coffee mug, and a straightening iron holder. I know, all lame ideas!

4) What's your favorite thing about being a WM? Getting out of the house every day to do something productive.
5) If you could give one tip to a new WM, what would it be? Be prepared for Mommy guilt and know that it truly is best for everyone in the long run. Your LO's need and most of them enjoy socializing with other children.
6) Are you traveling for the holidays this year or staying home? Thanksgiving is at my IL's but it's only an hour away so I don't really consider that travelling. Christmas is with my parents at our house this year. Yay! I can't wait.

5) If you could give one tip to a new WM, what would it be? Make it work for you. You'd be surprised just how accommodating people can/will be if you suck it up and ask. You may not get 100% of what you're hoping for, but you won't get any of it if you don't ask.
6) Are you traveling for the holidays this year or staying home? I work in a bank, so I work on Black Friday. It's my excuse not to travel for that holiday. DH's family is relatively local, so they come to our house for Thanksgiving. For Christmas, we always spend a week going back home for me and to catch up with my family.
7) What's your favorite Thanksgiving Day dish? Cranberry sauce. Made from scratch. And turkey skin. The fat kid in me LOVES turkey skin.
8) Any holiday traditions you want to share?? We are surprisingly non traditional. At my mom's house, my mom would always start breakfast before any of the kids were up than hop in the shower. She'd always claim that because we were the last house Santa stopped at, he must have started it while she was in the shower and when she hopped out, it scared him off. Once we were too old to believe in Santa, it stopped, but I'm hopeful it will start again once DD is old enough.
9) What's on your Christmas Wish list this year? Nothing really. I just enjoy celebrating and seeing family again. My family is ridiculously bad at giving gifts, so I wish we'd just stop with giving them to adults.

My family lives on a farm in the southern part of the midwest. Every year, my cousins all go out drinking together. The next morning, we get up, have a cup of coffee and either blow something up, or burn something down. One year, we built a catapult, and used it to throw flaming turkey bones in to the pond. Seriously not kidding right now. It took a lot of rum to get the turkey bones to light up.

My grandma gave me an opal ring several years ago. This year, I inadvertently hit my hand on the refrigerator while wearing it, and you guessed it, the opal broke. I just want it repaired.

The amazing people I get to interact with via my job, cool events I get to attend, working for a great cause, contributing $ and benefits to the household, example for the kids, feels like I am on more equal footing with DH.
5) If you could give one tip to a new WM, what would it be?
It gets better. And, trust your instincts about child care. And, you don't have to do everything--let some things go. The crock pot is your friend.

Going to a ton of different events but all around our area, which is really nice.

I am doing the "get each kid an ornament that represents something from their year" thing and I really enjoy it. We also do St. Nick in our area on the night of Dec. 5, and I really like that. We have a lot of traditions on both sides of the family and I love the holidays.

Not sure yet but we are in the midst of a house remodel/renovation, so perhaps some stuff like new towels and accessories. Also a new purse, clothes in general, and a new winter coat.

I take great joy in being able to help people with cancer live as well as they can for as long as possible. I also love that although my day-to-day work can be heartbreaking, every night when I come home, my kids sweep me into their world of blissful innocence and happiness. It is a refreshing balance!

If you do something that you love for work, you will not resent the time away from your family.

I will be too late in my pregnancy to travel from Thanksgiving or Christmas, so we are staying home…in a way I am looking forward to celebrating with our nuclear family…

4) What's your favorite thing about being a WM? I don't officially become one until Thursday, but I anticipate it will be knowing I'm being the best mom I can be by doing a job I love. I love the work I do, the purpose for which it is done, and the value I feel from having a paycheck for my family. I'd like my daughter to one day be able to say the same of her work, so I also like being that role model for her.

3) How long have you been working in your current profession? I've been here only 6 months, due to recently moving. Before this I taught ESL to refugees and impoverished immigrants for about two years. Before that, I was working retail to put myself through college.
4) What's your favorite thing about being a WM? Putting my degree to work. Having a bit of time to myself after dropping DS with a sitter before I need to be at work so I can run boring errands without a toddler. Making just as much as DH so I feel like we're more of a team. Giving my kids a better quality of life than I had growing up.
5) If you could give one tip to a new WM, what would it be? Trust! Trust your DH to help out around the house. Trust your child care provider so you don't have to worry during your work day. Trust yourself to make the right decision for your family. Trust that your house will not fall apart if you skip this dishes tonight.
6) Are you traveling for the holidays this year or staying home? DH and I invited coworkers over for Thanksgiving, but we'll road trip 16 hours out of state to visit my family for Christmas.

We read The Night Before Christmas and get PJs on Christmas Eve, but really this will be our first holiday season as our own little family (we lived with MIL for years and only recently moved out, so we had always done HER traditions). I'm looking forward to starting traditions this year.

1) Your stats and kids? two girls. Kate is almost 5 and Caroline is almost 3. I'm Erin. 35 and a half
2) Occupation, FT or PT? full time. I'm a middle school (7th and 8th grade) history and sex ed teacher
3) How long have you been working in your current profession? 14 years!
4) What's your favorite thing about being a WM? I love my job. Teaching is fun and I'm good at it.
5) If you could give one tip to a new WM, what would it be? Do not feel guilty for wanting to work.
6) Are you traveling for the holidays this year or staying home? We host Thanksgiving, to the parents for Christmas
7) What's your favorite Thanksgiving Day dish? just one? Mashed potatoes and turkey.
8) Any holiday traditions you want to share?? My FIL used to read the kids "The Night Before Christmas" right before bed. He passed away last year and I am hoping we can carry on this tradition somehow.
9) What's on your Christmas Wish list this year? scarves, shoes, clothes, slippers
