Solutions for pants that are too big?

My almost 15 month old DS is quite lean. My problem is trying to find the correct length pants for him that don't fall down. I could get away with him wearing 6-9 month shorts, but now it's colder and the right length pants just fall down! Any solutions? Help!

Re: Solutions for pants that are too big?

  • Adjustable waist pants.  Old Navy, Crazy 8 and Osh Kosh are my favorite.  DS1 is 5 and still has to have adjustable waist pants because he's a string bean.  Look on the inside of the waist and you'll see buttons...just undo the button and pull to cinch the waist.

  • Get pants with an adjustable waist like Childrens Place or Old Navy.

  • We find the fit of the pants at The Children's Place are really good for my skinny kid. He's in the 60th percentile for height and the 10th for weight and he has a super tiny waist. We don't like the adjustable waist ones as much because they fit at the waist but look poofy everywhere else. He needs a slim cut everywhere. We use cloth so that makes him a little more proportional but the poor kid just has a tiny little booty!

  • Yup, Children's Place are my favorite. I also have used Gymboree and Gap.

  • I buy nothing but elastic waist pants. My 19 month old son is still wearing 12 month pants with room to grow in them. For the ones that are a little short , I just buy tall socks. I would rather them be somewhat short than falling down and having him trip over them constantly. Old Navy and Children's Place seem to fit the best.

  • you know what I don't get?  Mock drawstrings...What's the point of having elastic waist pants with what looks like drawstrings, but you cant use them to cinch the pants tighter.... ugh.  I have this problem too.

  • For a skinny kid I actually think elastic waists are the worst because you can't make them smaller and I feel they always run big.  I think my 3 year old still fits in some 18m pants with an elastic waist but they're half way up his calves :)  Adjustable waists all the way.  Love Old Navy :)

  • I found the osh kosh adjustable waists fit the best for my string bean. Old navy girls jeans actually also fit really well (and come in fun colors).

  • The blue jeans & khakis from the Jumping Beans brand from Kohl's has an elastic waist, but it's a thick band that can easily be folded down. So that's what I do most of the time.

For just around the house, I've gotten back out some of his baby pants that are a little short on the leg, but fit well around the waist.
