We had our 39 week appointment on Monday (11/11) and my BP was pretty high and due to gestational diabetes my doctor said we needed to induce now. So we went to the hospital Monday evening to get things started. Cervadil was started at about 1am on Tuesday morning, around 8am started having bad back pain and feeling lots of pressure so they checked for progress. Result was no progress and the cervadil had somehow balled up during contractions in the night. They had to remove it and the "ball" irritated my cervix and was extremely painful to remove. They then checked my progress and nothing had progressed. After that check the swelling and irritation was so bad I couldn't even pee!! ADVICE- we later learned that cervadil should be placed with minimal amount if any lube! The lube can cause the medicine to not work and not stay in place. What joy!
After this I was in an excruciating amount and just lost it crazy ugly crying to my DH. The nurses let me rest for a few hours to let the swelling go down and after several calls to my doctor we got the "expert" nurse in to place another one. I just lost it and my instincts told me to refuse it so I did.
My doctor came that evening to check in and we discussed my options and I opted after long discussions with him and my DH to stop the induction process and just do the c section.
The next morning we had the surgery everything went smooth as can be. Baby's head was already getting cone shaped and he wasn't in the canal very far and his cord was wrapped pretty tight so my doctor said we made the right call because we would have ended in a c section anyway.
Point of this LONG story, trust your instincts! I'm so glad I did and we had a doctor who encouraged us to do what felt right for our baby!
